i'm not that into "shake life" but "flexin'" is like my jam of the summer right now

some dude, Wednesday, 27 July 2011 02:11 (twelve years ago) link

i like dont love 'shake life' although i could see it doing minor chart damage w/ the right promotion

i kinda frowned when i heard it on the radio the first time. didn't need to hear that beat recycled and the hook is awkward.

some dude, Wednesday, 27 July 2011 02:31 (twelve years ago) link

if i didnt know the devin version id be cool w/ the beat

have only really heard him on those songs w/ ross that are out right now, think he sounds decent or at least refreshingly animated on those. does he have good solo shit?

some dude, Wednesday, 27 July 2011 02:35 (twelve years ago) link

i compared him to pill & wale in that they're all generically "good", sometimes better, sometime worse. i guess that might be boring to some ppl, but it doesn't have to be. he doesn't strike me as anything special tho. he's never been the best part of anything that i've heard him on.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 27 July 2011 02:41 (twelve years ago) link

you could throw, like, alley boy in that same group too

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 27 July 2011 02:43 (twelve years ago) link

i don't know if Wale belongs in the generic-but-boringly-good category, dude is pretty much awful more often than not

some dude, Wednesday, 27 July 2011 03:02 (twelve years ago) link

hmmm "flexin" is really good -- kinda reminds me of the "grove st party" end of luger beats

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 27 July 2011 03:03 (twelve years ago) link

chorus is just hilarious

That Gigz EP has grown on me.

streetball technician in the flesh (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Wednesday, 27 July 2011 20:49 (twelve years ago) link

Yeah been blasting it a lot over the last 3 days or so. It sounds cleaner production wise to me. 'drugs' and 'lost' are great. 'stupid remix' as well obviously.

even I, tireless weed-rap & basedmusic apologist that I am, couldn't get through more than half of that

Gatsby was a success, in the end, wasn't he? (D-40), Friday, 29 July 2011 22:48 (twelve years ago) link

I've only heard/seen the youtubez on this thread, most of which seemed allright but the beats didn't really grab me. but I dug that one. y'know, I like that funk shit.

Richard Nixon's Field of Warmth (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 29 July 2011 22:50 (twelve years ago) link

I like that beat way less than most of his similar joints.

The Reverend, Friday, 29 July 2011 23:27 (twelve years ago) link

the first Roachy Balboa is just a fun, catchy listen all the way through

Number None, Friday, 29 July 2011 23:35 (twelve years ago) link

can't stand that beat at all...love the wild child like stuff but this is way too hyphy to be enjoyable
