I'm cool with either. I am sort of curious about Old Timers, though.

Okay, if Kevin doesn't hate me for it let's go to Old Timer's.

Party Time Country Female (pullapartgirl), Thursday, 7 September 2006 18:16 (seventeen years ago) link

So is the scheduled Bathroom Cleaning Night, or is it an urgency-based project?

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 7 September 2006 18:18 (seventeen years ago) link

no worries jenny but this should definitely be the start of our standing appointment for beverages.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Thursday, 7 September 2006 18:20 (seventeen years ago) link

let thirsty thursdays commence!

otto midnight (otto midnight), Thursday, 7 September 2006 18:20 (seventeen years ago) link

WHEEEE!

Jordan - we have company coming tomorrow afternoon and I have to spend the morning doing laundry and homework. So the bathroom needs to be cleaned tonight.

Oh, John, XEB was reading the NYer with your comic in it, and when I told him about your caption he agreed it was better than any of the recognized ones.

Also, this is the Production Department; I probably curse more than any of my colleagues but no one looks askance...WE UNDER STRESS, YO.

Laurel (Laurel), Thursday, 7 September 2006 18:22 (seventeen years ago) link

That makes perfect sense, Jenny. Those are about the only circumstances under which I do hardcore bathroom cleaning, unfortunately.

Last weekend I finished my book before the plane ride home, so I bought a New Yorker, and thought of John.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 7 September 2006 18:24 (seventeen years ago) link

hey, you guys hoist one for me since i'll be on the redline heading up to sheridan while yr at the bar. as long as it's not that malort stuff. that stuff tastes like a hangover feels.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Thursday, 7 September 2006 18:26 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh, John, XEB was reading the NYer with your comic in it, and when I told him about your caption he agreed it was better than any of the recognized ones.

Fuck yeah. At least the one they chose was MARGINALLY better than the other two lame ones. (And sorry to hear about the breakup, L.)

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 7 September 2006 18:37 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah, thanks. It came out of nowhere in the first place, right? I will not worry.

Laurel (Laurel), Thursday, 7 September 2006 18:39 (seventeen years ago) link

I would like to go to Old Timers or the HC. I'm sad.

I'm on an emotional roller coaster here, but not the kind that do loops; just the kind where you sit in it and go up and down hills. Probably the metal variety, though occasionally I think it might be the wooden kind, since I feel rattled and jarred at times. I'd say it's a fairly tight wooden emotional roller coaster. There are no tunnels either. As far as the theme of the roller coaster, I guess it would be "Flood-Ravaged Railway Ride" at Six Flags Great Deluvia. Each car only seats one.

I've just been informed that there is a possibly SPURIOUS write-up of my band in the free weekly. I'm going to go get one. Details to follow!

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 7 September 2006 19:07 (seventeen years ago) link

Awesome: Elizabeth of C4n4st4 is going to be on Check Please sometime in the next couple months.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 7 September 2006 19:13 (seventeen years ago) link

convince her to review white castle!

otto midnight (otto midnight), Thursday, 7 September 2006 19:15 (seventeen years ago) link

'cause that would be really funny to make the other reviewers have to go out for sliders.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Thursday, 7 September 2006 19:16 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh, it's not as bad as I expected, but it's still inaccurate. We're playing a show next week with Sl4vic Soul Party from NYC, and trying to hype it up a lot. They listed the show as being only us, no mention of SSP, and then they gave us Youngbl00d Brass Band's standard blurb: "The globetrotting Mama D1gdown's jump off tour long enough to roll through some of their brass-powered hip-hop hybrids for their hometown peoples."

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 7 September 2006 19:20 (seventeen years ago) link

She picked Mitsuwa Marketplace.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 7 September 2006 19:31 (seventeen years ago) link

LOL @ Alpina Singh talking about what wine goes with chicken rings.

Party Time Country Female (pullapartgirl), Thursday, 7 September 2006 19:45 (seventeen years ago) link

I am also sorry, Laurel. :(

Party Time Country Female (pullapartgirl), Thursday, 7 September 2006 19:46 (seventeen years ago) link

We swear a lot in my group, too. PRODUCTION BROS W/ LAUREL!!!11

I saw my alderman on Check Please recently. Go Manny! He picked HUE. I think it might have been a rerun.

I will be at Old Timer's this even. Possibly even early, as our database server has crashed.

My talk in front of the editors went well, until it was screwed up by said server crash. But I got a brownie and some laughs out of it.

"Spurious" is one of my favorite words of late, ever since I saw it used by an astronomer to describe the reviews of his work.

LOL @ Alpina Singh talking about what wine goes with chicken rings.

seriously, wouldn't you love to be known as the a-hole who made everyone go to white castle? not the loftiest thing to aspire to, i'll grant you but then again ambition killed ceaser so there you go.

Thirsty Thursdays are the heat.

Party Time Country Female (pullapartgirl), Friday, 8 September 2006 02:34 (seventeen years ago) link

Eazy to thread pls: Patricia Barber - C/D?

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 8 September 2006 11:53 (seventeen years ago) link

how long did the innaugural thirsty thursday last? 'cause i didn't wind up leaving my house until much later than anticipated and didn't get to H.C. until much later than anticipated and didn't leave until much later than anticipated.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Friday, 8 September 2006 12:24 (seventeen years ago) link

I think we were all out of there by 8.

Party Time Country Female (pullapartgirl), Friday, 8 September 2006 12:32 (seventeen years ago) link

Nick and I watched Lost and then went to SubT to see the comedians. It was a good time. My smile muscles are sore.

Queen Sarah Saturday (coco), Friday, 8 September 2006 12:59 (seventeen years ago) link

John, did you stay for the band?

Queen Sarah Saturday (coco), Friday, 8 September 2006 13:00 (seventeen years ago) link

Note: I did not clean the bathroom. But I'm totally going to right now.

Party Time Country Female (pullapartgirl), Friday, 8 September 2006 13:03 (seventeen years ago) link

I made myself take out the garbage, clean out the litterbox, and sweep before leaving the apartment this morning.

Queen Sarah Saturday (coco), Friday, 8 September 2006 13:12 (seventeen years ago) link

That's amazing. Sometimes I feel compelled to wash dishes or sweep up the cat food in the morning, but I don't think I've ever cleaned The Boxes before 5:00 pm.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 8 September 2006 13:23 (seventeen years ago) link

my head hurts so bad i'm not sure if this is a hangover or meningitis.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Friday, 8 September 2006 13:45 (seventeen years ago) link

What were you drinking last night, paint thinner?

daniel striped tiger (OutDatWay), Friday, 8 September 2006 13:56 (seventeen years ago) link

John, did you stay for the band?

Nah, I was tired. I was just kind of waiting around for Renee when you guys left, since I was giving her a ride home.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 8 September 2006 13:57 (seventeen years ago) link

i was drinking the best drinks ever and by that i mean FREE ONES.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Friday, 8 September 2006 13:58 (seventeen years ago) link

ugh. i think i need a head transplant.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Friday, 8 September 2006 14:09 (seventeen years ago) link

oh kevin...

Bathroom is clean. Rugs are vacuumed. Random dusty looking things are dusted. Kitchen surfaces are wiped. This wee apartment is supah dupah easy to clean! Even though that was only a half-assed cleaning.

Because our new place is small, we are only using one litter box. Thus, we clean it twice a day because nobody wants to sit in a small apartment with a box full of cat shit. I thought the cats would grouse about it, but they are crapping as happily as ever.

Party Time Country Female (pullapartgirl), Friday, 8 September 2006 14:38 (seventeen years ago) link

Hey speaking of hangovers...

If our out of town guests are up for it, which I will know by early this afternoon, we're going to have some brunch at Tweet Let's Eat tomorrow. If anyone is interested in joining us, let me know. You can meet two honest to god Columbus, Ohioans.

Party Time Country Female (pullapartgirl), Friday, 8 September 2006 14:39 (seventeen years ago) link

Note: These out of town guests are friends from another internet that we've never met in person before so they might be assholes. But I kind of doubt it.

Party Time Country Female (pullapartgirl), Friday, 8 September 2006 14:42 (seventeen years ago) link

The word "group" starts to look really weird with overuse.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 8 September 2006 14:43 (seventeen years ago) link

i was hanging with columbus, ohians last week! my ohians were good people though.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Friday, 8 September 2006 14:48 (seventeen years ago) link

i'll bet people who lie to god are more fun than honest to god folk.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Friday, 8 September 2006 14:49 (seventeen years ago) link

The word "group" starts to look really weird with overuse.

Semantic saturation is a cognitive neuroscience phenomenon where intense repetition causes a word or phrase to temporarily lose meaning for the listener, who can only process the speech as repeated meaningless sounds.

Thanks, Johnny Linguist.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 8 September 2006 15:43 (seventeen years ago) link

Buscemi went bluer than I've ever seen him last night.

I was reminded of this by the word "linguist."

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 8 September 2006 15:44 (seventeen years ago) link

Haha.

I'd like to see that dude. Good comedians are hard to find.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 8 September 2006 15:45 (seventeen years ago) link

is there such a thing as a good sports bar? is there anyplace in chicago i can go to watch a game, say tomorrow's bc/clemson game for instance, and not be surrounded by backwards ballcapped steakheads? i just want to watch the game, have a couple of beers and maybe a burger.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Friday, 8 September 2006 15:50 (seventeen years ago) link

Yes. I know there is. Let me consult Mr. Party Time Country Female and get back to you.
