I would like to venture that Neanderthal's post was only moderately creepy. I don't understand the Cecil B. Demented ref, so maybe that holds the key, but I say his post was only at like 55%-65% creepy, given the currently establish creep capabilities of this board.

i think it was pretty clear from the preceding sentence -where he referred to how she was leaving town, so if anything happened it would just be fling - that he was talking about hitting on her, not raping her. why would anyone's first assumption be that he is talking about raping her???

I don't think it was that clear, J. The fist sentence didn't even seem connected to the second imo. As I said earlier I think it was just really poortly worded in very unaware way.

I don't dislike him and yet I still see find that post to be troublesome and for the third time I will say that I don't think it was a conscious thing. I kind of figured it was assumed that theater people are easy and that his will was being tested because if he actually hit on her it'd be like a four hour over/under until they had sex, and he didn't want to overcommit and have sex and catch feelings.

this is wrong; tempted infers that you are being held back from, or refraining from, doing something, which in this case you're not. you might be aroused!, or excited, but contextualising it in terms of 'i had to stop myself' is putting yourself in the plain of creepiness, kinda, i think. i mean you didn't do it!, & i have no suspicion that it was meant this way, but just if we are going to double down then i think that it crosses the line, putting it in an implied realm of maybe-doing-something, which should not have been on the potential list of actions.
