Will accelerated pop culture/technology lengthen or shorten an artist's longevity?

I think what you'll see is that with cycles of nostalgia getting shorter (i.e. things take less time to become fashionable again after their inital popularity wanes), certain artists will have several career revivals over a span of 5-10 years.
