Oh, I thought you said that was Sunday.

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 14 May 2005 13:14 (eighteen years ago) link

Anyway, it's not. I would like to go, in a way, but on the other hand I am feeling somewhat ropey. I think, on balance, no.

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 14 May 2005 13:18 (eighteen years ago) link

I feel a bit dopey

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 14 May 2005 18:34 (eighteen years ago) link

you rang?

I have an exam in edinburgh tomorrow.

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 08:24 (eighteen years ago) link

Oh, so that's why you're coming. Maybe it is a bad idea to try Aberdeen, on balance. Perhaps we should concentrate on EUROVISION PARTY instead. It is the 50th one!

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 10:49 (eighteen years ago) link

ooh, Eurovision Party Please!

Cathy (Cathy), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 10:55 (eighteen years ago) link

fancy dress.

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 11:00 (eighteen years ago) link

I have already been invited to one.

So ner.

I shall not attend.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 11:01 (eighteen years ago) link

an obvious choice of party, for you, I think. what's your platform?

two crossposts

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 11:01 (eighteen years ago) link

who can teach me evidence?

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 11:06 (eighteen years ago) link

I think you know enough--it's usually very easy to tell what you're thinking.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 11:07 (eighteen years ago) link

The Eurovision can fuck off. I want Aberdeen.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 11:28 (eighteen years ago) link

So more Alba, less Eorpa?

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 12:17 (eighteen years ago) link

More Eeyore less Haw-Haw.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 12:24 (eighteen years ago) link

The early stages of senility are difficult to come to terms with.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 12:53 (eighteen years ago) link

My wife's got no nose.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 12:56 (eighteen years ago) link

How can you tell?

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 13:03 (eighteen years ago) link

Who knows.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 13:19 (eighteen years ago) link

terrible

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 13:20 (eighteen years ago) link

Hardly "racist" though.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 13:22 (eighteen years ago) link

Unless your wife is black.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 13:23 (eighteen years ago) link

I assure you she is not.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 13:44 (eighteen years ago) link

this thread was good.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 13:45 (eighteen years ago) link

I don't have time to believe you.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 13:53 (eighteen years ago) link

What is in Aberdeen?

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 13:58 (eighteen years ago) link

Only Cozen, and Amanda.

I say, only.

Yeah. Only.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 14:05 (eighteen years ago) link

Perhaps it is ripe for a takeover.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 14:09 (eighteen years ago) link

I was thinking about having a Eurovision 'do'. Should I not, now?

Ailsa, it looks like I was a drunken fool with my chequebook. Also, his name is officially Byngo. He's Bonzo to me, though.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 14:13 (eighteen years ago) link

The only thing about you having a party is that it will depress me that 12 months have passed. Unless I'm in Aberdeen.

Those dogs are lusty.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 14:22 (eighteen years ago) link

You should have one, Madchen. I don't think anyone else could top the cheese-on-cocktail-sticks brilliance of last year.

Cathy (Cathy), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 14:26 (eighteen years ago) link

I can't remember last year.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 14:30 (eighteen years ago) link

Last year was great! You had prepared melons! (Or were they pineapples?) I can't remember anything about the actual Eurovision though, except Britain being awful.

Cathy (Cathy), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 14:33 (eighteen years ago) link

I remember last year. It also depresses me. My place is bigger than your place. But I suppose we should consult the consensus. Plus, if it's at yours, I won't have to tidy up.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 14:34 (eighteen years ago) link

I remember a lack of room at Madchen's. I think tiered seating might have to be introduced. Or sitting on laps. I don't mind Ally sitting on my lap, or Cathy. I think I draw the line at RJG.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 14:38 (eighteen years ago) link

Melons? Really? Was it not cheese/pickled onion/pineapple on sticks, stuck in a foil-wrapped grapefruit?

I can re-arrange the furniture no problem. It is a big room, but I usually have it arranged to encourage a feeling of cosiness.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 14:40 (eighteen years ago) link

I think the time for retro 70s nibbles has passed. I demand retro 90s nibbles - sun-dried tomato canapes and a pipe of Pringles.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 14:45 (eighteen years ago) link

Also, Latvian whores.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 14:46 (eighteen years ago) link

Perhaps Aberdeen will serve me better.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 14:46 (eighteen years ago) link

I think ice-cream would probably do.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 14:46 (eighteen years ago) link

Yeah, OK.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 14:47 (eighteen years ago) link

'Prepared Melons'. Phrase of the thread.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 15:10 (eighteen years ago) link

cheese/pickled onion/pineapple on sticks, stuck in a foil-wrapped grapefruit

That's it! That was the most sophisticated nibble I have ever had.

Cathy (Cathy), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 15:22 (eighteen years ago) link

It's time you tried other places.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 15:23 (eighteen years ago) link

Haha, Madchen, maybe I should bid for him on ebay and we can have one each and split the difference in cost since I drunkenly egged you on.

Does Glasgow fancy a pint on Thursday? The mister is going to see Star Wars and we are going out for a meal first then I will be abandoned whilst he goes geeking at the cinema. I believe we will be in Budda for food and drinks (the West End version) should anyone wish to meet me for West End drinks and stuff afterwards.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 15:48 (eighteen years ago) link

"pipe of pringles"??????????????

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 17:23 (eighteen years ago) link

Poor N., trying to look cool in the '90's by smoking his Pringles ....

Mooro (Mooro), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 17:50 (eighteen years ago) link

Madchen, I'm not sure that cheap Bonzo on ebay is a real Bonzo. Look at this one, it's much nicer...http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=65007&item=7322180395&rd=1

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 18:38 (eighteen years ago) link

He still costs £27.99 less than I paid! Actually, I think those three dogs in the one lot are real, but the seller doesn't quite know what she's got, so she hasn't used the right keywords for searchers and has just called them 'sylvac style' which would put a lot of people off them.

Anyway, right, I have decided I will definitely be doing Eurovision at my house again. The show kicks off at 8pm, so I'll be ready for you from 6pm, OK? No showing up after the first song like last year please. I'll make some proper food to go with Alba's pipe.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 19:23 (eighteen years ago) link

Hurray! Do you have teletext?

Cathy (Cathy), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 20:04 (eighteen years ago) link

yes
