haha i wonder what's the amazing all-important word j0rdan accidentally left out of his post (xpost)
― mylo & xylotis (some dude), Tuesday, 1 November 2011 01:15 (twelve years ago) link
if you knew 2 chainz had more ppl talking about him in the strip club than why didnt you jsut say that. thats not buzz that anyone here can accurately measure
― surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally, Tuesday, 1 November 2011 01:16 (twelve years ago) link
inherently & effortlessly cool
are you saying hes the only rapper right now to have these qualities?
― The boyboy young jess (D-40), Tuesday, 1 November 2011 01:16 (twelve years ago) link
that's pretty subjective and probably short-lived
you said it yourself before today the man had released three minutes of good music - the buzz relative to his skills/actual output is wildly out of proportion - and his buzz is mostly with people like us who read internety rap blogs btw
xps re cool
― MODS DID 10/11 (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 1 November 2011 01:17 (twelve years ago) link
the question is; why does he have more buzz?
buzz being defined as: people who's job it is to create buzz being excited
― surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally, Monday, October 31, 2011 9:15 PM (1 minute ago)
lol as i was saying - this is exactly why he's much less interesting than you seem to think

btw j0rdan that Main Attraktionz / ASAP song that soulja used in the other thread is on this renamed "Leaf"

yes but we're talking about why he is 'hip internet thing'
this is actually better than i expected, to top it all off

i mean when it comes down to it, 'why is this so buzzed' isnt the question, its 'why on earth is the buzz so out of proportion to quality'

having an ability to rap would probably be very jarring in the context of this record

DJ Burn One really hooked dude up, thats one of the more memorable moments on the record
and as someone who makes ridiculous assumptions about someone you do not know you also will get no response beyond this.
― surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally, Tuesday, 1 November 2011 01:26 (twelve years ago) link
yeah i agree. it sucks that it has to be so controversial. it's jsut a fuckin tumblr mixtape and now we have brooklyn vegan trolls giving their two cents. unneccessary

1) he has a narrative that's MUCH more interesting than "earnest rapper gets signed doesnt put out music than does". blogs and magazines create naratives around these guys and then they all just line up to the pump . asap's is way more rich
in all seriousness what does this mean

i don't think he was overly buzzed based on "peso" & "purple swag" unless, again, we're talking of millions of dollars and whatever expectations come with it
this kinda thing happens to indie rockers ALL THE TIME, and as major labels have died, the playing field in rap has shifted more towards the model that indie rock has been on for years now. the only thing is that rappers are still expected to go major, so at some point things get thrown out of wack.
but having lots of 'industry buzz' after two mp3s is pretty standard practice
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 1 November 2011 01:33 (twelve years ago) link
i mean, this same thing happened with sleigh bells or vampire wekeend or whatever and that's just how the machine goes -- the only difference is that RCA didn't go and give sleigh bells a three million dollar advance.

DUDE. seriously, magazines and blogs need a narrative for an artist to really get a lot of ink beyond just an mp3 here or there. his is more interesting/rich to them than the other rappers. so they all flog the same narrative about asap over over and over hence his buzz.

no shakey but i'm dead serious
the '2 mp3s' thing feels TOTALLY different in a rap context not just because of major label money but because most rappers have to drop like 80 songs a year to have any presence at all

LEP's Count came out of the Ickes projects. Count was a black stone p ranger. he grew up on NWA and originally met his manager when he was plotting to rob him. thats barely scraping the surface of the stories about those guys

The PGM deal lays a lot of hopeful industry weight on Rocky, whose government name, Rakim Mayers, is derived from one half of legendary New York hip-hop duo Eric B. & Rakim-- though Rocky wasn't even born when Paid in Full was originally released in 1987.
lol wow he wasn't even BORN when the person he was named after became famous! whodathunkit!
