i dont think so

idunno i'm not convinced by the new gucci stuff quite yet, partly b/c i don't think there was as much of a falloff as others seem to, and partly b/c i feel like people are primed for a 'gucci comeback' -- like, the audience is more of the story than the music.

i have noticed an uptick on hits on my blog for gucci content recently

yeah i've gotten a flurry of emails this week asking me to approve comments on "best gucci mane songs of 2008"

one was just "I got a big gun"

anyway, "north pole", "sometimes" and "face card" are really good from a production standpoint, and he seems to be more playful and less angry on those songs... maybe excepting "sometimes"

seems like he's picked himself back up a bit and that combined with production from just drumma & zay could make for a really solid tape imo

but for real zay's beat on "face card" is o_o

the beat is cool but i'm not that impressed by the rapping, it comes off as birdman-like repetition of a few overdone phrases. like i'm not expecting a return to "wonderful"-esque stream of consciousness rap but some personality would be nice

feel like this is kind of a manufactured comeback still. NOT YET CONVINCED

him & his team. people are responding favorably b/c he's working w/ new producers but i'm waiting to see if the spark that was missing from his perfectly competent record from last year has returned, not if he can sound good over a mike will beat (p much impossible not to)

i still don't see why that precludes people from talking about how he sounds good over mike will beats

personally i think it will just be a perfectly competent record minus that "spark" but i'm cool with that

i guess him staying out of jail for this long is a comeback itself of sorts

there's a lil spark on that first verse. i haven't been crazy about the other trap back songs tho

the feeling around this new stuff is probably less 'comeback' than the dead cat bounce of 'at least V-Nasty isn't on these songs'

"Comeback" or no, Trap Back is dope. "Brick Fair" is great. But I thought Gucci put out some very good stuff last year; "Up My Alley" is one of my favourite Gucci songs ever.

Yeah, I was going to note that—I think you're right. But that's when the track came out (right?), so to me that's when it's eligible.

Also, I think a Gucci Mane/Future mixtape could be great.
