Hello's great. The album doesn't have anything close to matching it, unfortunately.
Solveig himself is adorable though. The videos have been really good. Also gets points for naming himself after Solveig Dommartin.

ILX poison?
Considering there is an out of control thread on Internet meme Lana Del Rey that has thousands and thousands posts, while we just have this for "Smash" proves that ILM hates the French.

FYI "Hello" is great, "Ready 2 Go" is pretty decent as well.

I've been enjoying "Hello" for months but I had no clue who was responsible for it.

It's kinda weird because Dragonette have been one of those jobbing indie-friendly Popjustice bands for people who don't really like pop music. I'd expected them to never break out of that and then suddenly there's this massive hit.

Dragonette weren't bad. I don't think they had the wherewithal to get the best out of Martina Sorbara though. She always came across as a really good pop star in need of better collaborators.

yeah, i was half amazed that there wasn't already a solveig/dragonette thread. "hello" came out early last year and was apparently a massive international smash. "number one in Austria, Belgium Flanders, Czech Republic and the Netherlands", or so wikipedia tells me. "featured in 90210,[1] The Vampire Diaries,[2] and Gossip Girl.[3]" looking good, mr. solveig.
yeah, that's my impression, though i haven't heard the whole thing. "big in japan" is a decent runner-up, but a maybe a little too knowingly kitschy? the dragonette/solveig pairing somewhat reminds me of "yours to keep" by paola w teddybears (née STKHLM) from a few years back. chipmunk-pitched candy pop that feels like a slightly ironic toy-size version of "the real thing", whatever that might mean...
anyway, "hello" is great. love the way the helium balloon vocals float over the chunky, strobing synths. gets played out quick, but disposability is half the fun.

would have voted for "hello" in tracks. if anyone had nominated it. and if, you know, i voted in tracks. no less deserving than "party rock anthem" imo.

okay, maybe a little less deserving. just watched the halloween version.

Dragonette fault was less collaborators than quality control. I Get Around was infectious, but the two albums were very hit n' miss.

Radio 1 still play this song at least once a day. It's not on the playlist, but somehow it just happens.

what a jam!!!
It is hilarious that ILM has barely any posts about that song. It still gets played loud in my house from time to time. Came out right after our kid was born.

Not sure what is more awesome, the song or the video.

this song is perfect. goes on just long enough and is memorable throughout. absolutely love the glitched-out part near the end, which also reminds me of the same kind of avant-garde twisting that fatboy slim did with
