what was the name of the postman that got to number one?

jed_ (jed), Friday, 10 June 2005 22:47 (eighteen years ago) link

No idea... Did a postman get to number 1?

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 22:47 (eighteen years ago) link

I'm sorting out what I'm playing tomorrow.

Possibly starting with new wave stuff. Are we all bored with new wave stuff now? I will smell the crowd and see. I hope there is a crowd.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 22:48 (eighteen years ago) link

Annoyingly I think I am bored with New Wave stuff. I was a huge fan when I was 17. Still, if you did "Diamond Smiles", which might go with the G8 thing I would like it. That said, I won't be there! So just do what you like!

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 22:49 (eighteen years ago) link

Though I'm impressed by Mr.Stirmonster's recent Mr.Research advocacy.

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 22:50 (eighteen years ago) link

it was boris gardiner "i wanna wake up with you"

jed_ (jed), Friday, 10 June 2005 22:51 (eighteen years ago) link

play that Nick!

jed_ (jed), Friday, 10 June 2005 22:51 (eighteen years ago) link

Was he a postman?

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 22:52 (eighteen years ago) link

he was!

jed_ (jed), Friday, 10 June 2005 22:52 (eighteen years ago) link

Oh yeah - I remember now. He was indeed! I'm not playing him though. I might play the Belle Stars.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 22:53 (eighteen years ago) link

I used to work with the drummer from the Belle Stars!

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 22:53 (eighteen years ago) link

Tell him to come along!

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 22:54 (eighteen years ago) link

We used to drag her (Judy Hancock nee Parsons) along to the 80s club that Sim0m St3rt used to love and get them to play "sign of the times".

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 22:55 (eighteen years ago) link

The only things I'm certain I'm of playing are the Gipsy Kings and Björk.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 22:56 (eighteen years ago) link

Good calls. I love DJing. The last time I DJd, I played "Paperlate" by Genesis, twice.

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 22:57 (eighteen years ago) link

You can't argue with that. Or perhaps you can. Did anyone argue with you? I forgot that I'm definitely playing Kid Creole & The Coconuts as well.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 22:58 (eighteen years ago) link

And Kelis. I think I have too many certs now. I should get to DJ more often. Then I would be more relaxed about not playing things.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 22:59 (eighteen years ago) link

Which one? I'm a big fan of "Annie, I'm not you're daddy", but also the word "Stool" out of "Stool Pigeon".

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:00 (eighteen years ago) link

My next DJ exploits will definitely involve "Figaro" by the Brotherhood of Man.

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:01 (eighteen years ago) link

the words "stool pigeon" give me a horrible mental picture.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:02 (eighteen years ago) link

I've run out of wine, what am I going to do about it?

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:03 (eighteen years ago) link

I have played Annie I'm Not Your Daddy the last three times I've DJed (at different places) so I think maybe it's time for swtich to stool, exciting as daddy has been. Actually I think last time I played it twice by mistake but it was only a friend's party so who cared?

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:03 (eighteen years ago) link

I'm drinking V&T and frankly I'm sick of it.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:04 (eighteen years ago) link

Cup of tea has to be the answer for me I'm afraid. I'm listening to Sylvia's Mother sung by Dr.Hook now.

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:06 (eighteen years ago) link

white wine - will be moving on to tea soon.

xp!

jed_ (jed), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:07 (eighteen years ago) link

He he!

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:08 (eighteen years ago) link

I can't remember the time I made myself a cup of tea after nightfall. PERHAPS I NEVER HAVE.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:12 (eighteen years ago) link

"last time", anti-crypticians.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:13 (eighteen years ago) link

I once made a tomato juice and worcester sauce.

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:13 (eighteen years ago) link

Except I made it from PLUM TOMATOES and HP SAUCE. It didn't work.

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:14 (eighteen years ago) link

it worked it just didn't taste nice (i guess).

jed_ (jed), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:15 (eighteen years ago) link

What happened was that it sat still until it was 90 degrees above my face, and then it fell on it. I gave up seconds after.

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:16 (eighteen years ago) link

On life?

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:17 (eighteen years ago) link

Now that you mention it...

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:17 (eighteen years ago) link

Though I'm impressed by Mr.Stirmonster's recent Mr.Research advocacy.

that comment had me baffled for a minute or two but yes, i fully advocate mr. research.

My friend at work was a pal of Mr.Research at school. How did this possibly baffle you? It was only about a week ago! Do you have lots of friends called Mr.Research!

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:19 (eighteen years ago) link

well mr. research and i come from the same village and there's a big research clan there. i thought it might have been old shuggie research you were referring to.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:20 (eighteen years ago) link

Ah OK

Are you from Currie/Balerno then?

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:21 (eighteen years ago) link

Hmmm...perhaps I'll rethink my playlist entirely and base it around a centerpiece of 'Rebel Rebel'.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:21 (eighteen years ago) link

i am indeed. a balerno boy.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:22 (eighteen years ago) link

old shuggie research

jed_ (jed), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:22 (eighteen years ago) link

I've found "Paperlate" works as a a good centerpiece in the past.

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:22 (eighteen years ago) link

Stirmonster, ah! Do you know Dave Gibson then?

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:23 (eighteen years ago) link

that's the fellow jed!

dave gibson? there used to be a dave gibson who bullied me relentlessly. i wonder if it's the same one?

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:24 (eighteen years ago) link

Hmmm... I doubt it.... Very skinny bloke... I will check though.

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:25 (eighteen years ago) link

Twitch - you should come to the Woodside tomorrow, not to see my insult to the DJing profession but for Foxface - do you know them? I think you'd like them.

Alba (Alba), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:25 (eighteen years ago) link

how old would he be?

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:25 (eighteen years ago) link

That said, what's your actual surname? Dave would be I think late 30s/40 now.

KeefW (kmw), Friday, 10 June 2005 23:26 (eighteen years ago) link

alas alba i have to work but i would very much like to hear you play (and see foxface) even though being in a nightclub voluntarily is a very rare occurrence for me.

my surname is mcivor, keef. i am in my mid (heading to late) 30s.
