1. Broadway (Manhattan), with 13 pedestrians killed from 2008-2010.
2. Broadway (The Bronx), 7 killed.
3. Kings Highway (Brooklyn), with 7 killed
4. Henry Hudson Parkway (Manhattan), 7 Killed
5. Atlantic Avenue (Brooklyn) 7 killed
6. Jamaica Avenue (Queens) 6 killed
7. Grand Concourse (Bronx), 6 killed
8. Brighton Beach Avenue (Brooklyn) 6
9. Amsterdam Avenue (Manhattan) 6
10. Union Turnpike (Queens) 6

As a post script, in poring through the reports, we also made some interesting discoveries:
■As you may have noticed, Queens Boulevard somehow managed to avoid being in the top ten.
■The deadliest road in the Tri State area is in Nassau County, not in Manhattan.
■Suffolk County and Burlington, New Jersey have roads more dangerous than in any of the other five boroughs.
■Brooklyn had more pedestrian fatalities (139) in the past three years than any other borough (75 in the Bronx, 101 in Manhattan, 125 in Queens, and 23 in Staten).
■According to the maps, the highest concentration of deaths in Brooklyn appears to be in Brighton Beach; in Manhattan its the Lower East Side/Chinatown.

the numbers prob should be adjusted for length of street tho, 'broadway' means nothing really. still interesting.

Saw a hipster Miss Havisham on the C train today.

I timed it today: F train takes 33 minutes to go between 74th Street/Roosevelt Avenue and Jay Street/Borough Hall. Next will time G train plus E train from Hoyt/Schermerhorn for comparison.

ha we also took the f from Jackson heights to Brooklyn today. the problem is that you'd have to adjust for the frequency of the lines, like if you caught the g as it left it'd be fine but you can't expect to, esp on a weekend. I think you could probably calculate the ~ideal trip~ by looking at time tables online. would imagine the f is generally a better choice, maybe not during a peak hour.

Hm. Just tried the trip planner and the top two results were to take the F for a duration of 34 minutes. The third was to take the R for a duration of 46 minutes.

The R doesn't go through Jay Street/Borough Hall does it? Or maybe there's a transfer, through a tunnel or above ground with metrocard

Seems like the G to E transfer would be about the same if the transfer time were zero. Or under 5 minutes.

I saw something in Metro or AM today about how they're going to permanently extend the G to those southern stops, which is good news. Really they should consider building another brooklyn-queens line now that brooklyn is such a *destination*

an express line that runs into Manhattan on or near the current M line (the part that goes to Middle Village) would be really nice too

fwiw they actually did manage to improve the L train a lot lately in spite of bumps. I'm no longer crushed every morning.

I found out about the 7 problems @ times square and took the q32 instead. actually ran into my roommate on the street and saved him a lot of headache.

I'm free! My usual half-hour trip took almost an hour and a half, but the real tragedy is that i missed my yoga class.

They should bring the G back to Forest Hills...though I have to admit the 7 to the g has been working for me lately.

in terms of need there are tons of places that need subways to manhattan more than we need another brooklyn-queens line, but the tribororx might happen some day just cause it could be cheap:

yeah the g to forest hills doesn't really help us anyway. they are actually bringing back some services that were cut w/ the last massacre but that probably won't be one of them.

God today was terrible. I knew the 7 was having problems when i saw the huge crush of people on the platform at times sq so schlepped over to the e, which was filled with all the overflow 7 train commuters. The train kept stopping every 5 seconds. Then when we finally got to Roosevelt, the bus lines were massive (again, abandoned 7 trainers) so I walked home and melted as I walked--wrong day to swing by trader joes and to have my laptop on me...

Oh how long is the q32 ride from ts to wherever u took it to? Never thought abt that. Where in times sq does the q32 stop??

it doesn't stop at times sq, it starts next to penn station on 32nd then goes east then down madison. the amount of time it takes depends on whether it's rush hour or not, but maybe 30 mins to get to where I live in sunnyside?

actually it's kind of amazing how much of queens is nowhere near a subway -- are there historical reasons for that, like did residents oppose it?

well there's not really just one answer, that's the answer w/r/t certain late 20th century proposals in queens, but the big reason is that the ind 2nd system was shelved due to the depression. after that there weren't really any megaprojects anywhere, including manhattan.
