http://www.footstompin.com/artists/jim_reid?view=612
Jim Reid is a world famous Angus folksinger songwriter whose music evokes the romance and humour of the North East of Scotland.
He is without a doubt an outstanding singer and songwriter, and as a lover of the work of poet Violet Jacob, has set many of her poems to music, including the hugely successful Wild Geese (or Norland Wind), which has now become one of the classic folk songs of the twentieth century.
Jim was a founder member of the legendary Foundry Bar Band, after an apprenticeship in various Scottish groups including The Taysiders. His interest in the travelling folk is well known and he had a very special relationship with the late Belle and Alex Stewart of Blairgowrie.
In the introduction to Jim's recently published book The Better O' A Sang, Billy Kaye wrote "Mary Brooksbank is richt, we're aw better o' a song, especially gin it's sung by a maister like Jim Reid".

The great Sonny Boy Williamson (who also recorded and/or performed live with the Hawks, Animals, Yardbirds etc) was actually Rice Miller, but hard to imagine he wasn't worthy of the previous SBW's mantle and monicker, though I've never heard much of the earlier guy. As well as Robert Palmer the singer and Robert Palmer the critic (also a musician, with Insect Trust and Ornette Coleman, for inst), there is or was a guitarist of that name; also a guitarist named Paul Williams, along with Paul Williams the early rock critic and Paul Williams the tiny songwriter (of Three Dog Night's "Just Another Love Song" and other early 70s hits I'd rather not remember)Never forget John McLaughlin, the louder-than-Mahahvishnu leader of the McLauglin Group of PBS pundits.

Musical style and lyrical themesApologetiX rewrites secular songs with Christian lyrics to create parodies with Christian messages, and, in the song "We're In A Parody Band," ApologetiX refers to itself as a cross between "Weird Al" Yankovic and Billy Graham.
The band's lyrical content is derived solely from Biblical passages and practices, frequently in a tongue-in-cheek manner. It is also noteworthy that lyrics are often embedded with Scripture references for further exploration of the song's content.
Some of their parodies include:
Song Parody of Original artist"Lazy Brain" "Crazy Train" Ozzy Osbourne"Don't Be Fooled" "Don't Be Cruel" Elvis Presley"Hotel Can't Afford Ya" "Hotel California" Eagles"Christmasnite" "Kryptonite" 3 Doors Down"Enter Samson" "Enter Sandman" Metallica"The Real Sin Savior" "The Real Slim Shady" Eminem"Smells Like Thirtysomething Spirit" "Smells Like Teen Spirit" Nirvana"Bethlehemian Rhapsody" "Bohemian Rhapsody" Queen"Story of a Squirrel" "Absolutely (Story of a Girl)" Nine Days"More Than a Healing" "More Than a Feeling" Boston"The Devil Went Down to Jordan" "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" Charlie Daniels Band"We're Not Goin' to Canaan" "We're Not Gonna Take It" Twisted Sister"Set Him Free" "Let It Be" The Beatles"This Is From Paul" "This Is a Call" Foo Fighters"One More Wall" "Wonderwall" Oasis"Schoolhouse (for Prophets)" "School's Out" Alice Cooper"One Night in Bethlehem" "One Night in Bangkok" Murray Head"Drop Your Knife and Hurry Man" "Rock You Like a Hurricane" Scorpions

When he was a kid growing up in Rotterdam, New York, he had aspirations of joining the NFL and was quarterback at his sports-focused schools.
