RIPineda

@Ken_Rosenthal
Scouts yesterday had #Yankees' Pineda at 88-91 - "and there was some effort to get to 91," one said. Pineda averaged 94.7 last year. #MLB

@Ken_Rosenthal
Re: Previous tweet on Pineda. Yes it's early. But scouts were taken aback, asking each other if readings were accurate. #Yankees #MLB

If it's March 6 and you have to put forth the slightest bit of effort to hit 91 (when your average is 95), you are obviously toast.

Maybe his family realized that he's annoying around the house and wanted him back in baseball.

Garcia does not care either way (sorta):

“I don’t really care,” Garcia said, when asked about Pettitte’s return. “That’s their decision. I’m here to pitch and that’s what I want to do.”

When asked if Pettitte’s addition was good for the team, Garcia threw his hands up, seemingly exasperated by the turn of events.

“I don’t know man,” said Garcia, who like Hughes a day before, gave a lukewarm reaction. “Ask the people. I don’t know. I guess …You play with the Yankees, nothing surprises you.”

ahhhhhahahahahaha, whadda maroon.

Chamberlain had surgery on Thursday night at St. Joseph's Hospital, and is expected to remain in the hospital for several days for the injury, which resulted in an open flesh wound around the ankle. Manager Joe Girardi was at the hospital early Friday morning.

Is this a "broken bone sticking through the skin" situation? AAAAAAAAHHHAAAhahahahahaha

Michael Pineda (P) NY-A 3/29/2012
Manager Joe Girardi hasn’t made an official announcement, but it appears that Freddy Garcia may make the Yankees’ rotation to start the season, which could leave Pineda looking at a trip to the minors, the New York Post reports. “When you look at a guy who doesn’t have a lot of time [in the majors], you are trying to consider the upside of what you can possibly give because they don’t have the same track record as Freddy,” Girardi said. The last slot in the rotation appears to come down to Pineda or Ivan Nova, and even that slot is at risk if Andy Pettitte returns in May. If this news decreases what it costs to get Pineda for a keeper league, he becomes a great investment, as he still has #1 starter upside, though his short-term value may not be as high as anticipated.

three months pass...

TOKYO -- Ichiro Suzuki is looking forward to starting the 2013 baseball season the way he ended last season: as a member of the New York Yankees.

The Yankees and Suzuki finalized a $13 million, two-year contract in December that kept the 10-time All-Star in the Bronx after he was obtained in a trade with Seattle last July.

"Signing with the Yankees has given me a new sense of determination," the 39-year-old outfielder said Tuesday after a workout in Kobe. "This is a unique team. A team that can have a player like Alex Rodriguez as a pinch hitter is special, and to be part of that is exciting."
