I filed to cancel the sale - I figure if I push the issue and send it to him, he can hassle me later on and Ebay/Paypal are notorious about seller protection.
And I actually come out better anyway, figuring in fees.

It's almost impossible (and meaningless) to leave negative feedback for buyers now, and if anyone files a claim on you odds are you're not getting your money or your item back. Claims can be filed up to 45 days later - so even after you pull money from your Paypal account, you don't know if the buyer is going to screw you in a month when you don't even have the money anymore.

But I'm talking about any other sale - a buyer has 45 days to decide the screen was cracked or it didn't function right or w/e (even dishonestly), and Ebay/Paypal decide in the buyer's favor on almost every one of those cases. Sellers are at the mercy of buyers being honest.
So if I pushed this guy to actually pay the $400 he bid, he could receive the item and since he's already shown himself to be shady, he can then screw me by claiming it was an empty box or that the screen was scratched or something - in which case I'll lose the 400, $40 Ebay fees and the iPad.

yeah I guess protective coverings don't make sense to me because I'm not the kind of guy who upgrades every cycle - and when I do upgrade I'll probably just give it all to my parents, to further ~indoctrinate them~

i rarely upgrade, that's exactly why I want to protect the face from minor scratches/grease/bits of liquid/whatever. nothing to do with resale value. i've seen plenty of scratched/cracked apple screens to want to play it safe

Smart Cover is the way to go for iPad imo, but don't get a leather one or you'll look like a tool

I have a butt-ugly green SmartCover but I need to get something that will protect the back.

the leather smartcovers just seem like I dunno half of a briefcase to me or something

though obviously the synthetic colors are mostly ugly, only viable choices are grey or different grey probably

The black leather does not make you look like a tool fwiw, if you have an iPad you are already there

A friend maintains that the leather smartcovers are worth it because the other ones get grubby immediately. That said she has a three-year-old.

I kind of find it hilarious that they don't bother to remove seemingly-irrelevant entries on there in countries where those sports aren't relevant. idk guys, if it takes off they'll internationalize this thing.

The main draw for it in the US is, in order: browse and play music from iTunes libraries (which you can do anywhere), Netflix, followed closely by a tie between youtube and ability to rent/buy video from the online store. I'm guessing the video selection sucks elsewhere so it's mainly streaming iTunes and youtube? Sorry.

oh also i thought i heard about some new thing (may have even been ipad3) that would kind of make apple tv obsolete. Is this true?? i was thinking of hinting at one for my birthday from the moms. do any of you have one? what do you mostly use it for?
