This is a bit of a longshot, but I have an ID request for a melodic house track (as played by Dinky last night, who was totally on fire, I might add) characterized by pattern of strings (which were something like half a bar in length each) with a female vocal snippet every 4 bars saying something that sounds like "don't let me doooooown" but isn't really decipherable. Thanks.

Lying completely motionless on the concrete floor of an aircraft hangar on the north Atlantic coast. Despite the hour it is blazing daylight. Milspec speaker system is playing Speedy J's Loudboxer at high volume.

anyone can tell me some essential books about dance music?
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Thursday, 13 September 2012 11:49 (eleven years ago) link
A few good ones that I've read:
Dan Sicko - Techno Rebels: The Renegades of Electronic Funk* This is basically the history of techno in the US. Very informative on early developments of Detroit techno.
Matthew Colin - Altered State: The Story of Ecstasy Culture and Acid House* Good, non-partisan look into rave culture and ecstacy use.
Jane Bussmann - Once in a Lifetime: The Crazy Days of Acid House and Afterwards* You could read this as a partisan companion to Altered State. A sort of a "I was there" oral history and photo book of the British acid house scene in the late 80s and 90s. There isn't that much about the music, but it has wide variety of interesting and funny anecdotes told by various scenesters.
Chris Kempster (ed.) - History of House* Extensive and informative interviews with pretty much all the biggest techno and house musicians and DJs around the time the book was published (1996). I think this is pretty hard to find nowadays, but maybe your library carries it?
Martin James - The State of Bass: Jungle: The Story So Far* History of jungle and drum'n'bass up until 1997.
Ulf Poschardt - DJ-Culture* This one is German and it's far more academic than any of the others I've mentioned, but if you're into that sort of thing, it has some cool theories and observations that none of the Anglo books I've read have made.

what about last night a dj saved my life? worht reading?
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Thursday, 13 September 2012 12:56 (eleven years ago) link
I remember liking it but it was years ago.
On the more disco side, Turn The Beat Around is good, also Love Saves The Day...I don't really remember either as it's been years, but I don't remember hating either! And Mel Cheren's autobiography "My Life and the Paradise Garage" is a pretty essential disco story.

i don't think anybody's ever written a book on techno i've really enjoyed but i've only read techno rebels, altered states, energy flash and dj-culture
possibly i should just write my own at some point
wanted to find the superior "zagzig jazz" mix of this but this is the best i could do. still, awesome tune

I found this incomplete tracklisting using the archive.org's wayback machine, but there really aren't many people talking about scott henry tapes on the internet these days.

I've never managed to get into Berghain techno, but can you really compare the Craig with that sound?(x-post)
On a different tangent, I was very happy to find out someone had edited the AVH mix of Kim English 'Nite Life' and removed the ravey stabs which always seemed to detract from the sensual, rolling nature of the rest of the track:
