D-40, Wednesday, 11 April 2012 09:04 (twelve years ago) link

thought this was a v good ep

D-40, Wednesday, 11 April 2012 09:04 (twelve years ago) link

dream was convincing & i've 100% had anxious fever dreams where i felt like a horrible human being & woke up to find out it was completely false

i feel like a horrible human being while awake all the time.

flesh, the devil, and a wolf (wolf) (amateurist), Wednesday, 11 April 2012 10:35 (twelve years ago) link

i didn't like the dream sequence - it made me feel queasy so i guess it was effective, and i can see how it fit the episode's essential themes, but i found it unconvincing and i totally rolled my eyes. excellent episode otherwise, though. weiner packs a lot of stuff into 50 minutes.

I accidentally sonned your dome (stevie), Wednesday, 11 April 2012 10:46 (twelve years ago) link

Totally hackneyed and obvious, also poorly written

boy, was that Dan Fielding hungry for some cake! (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 11 April 2012 12:46 (twelve years ago) link

I'm not completely convinced by the dream sequence, but loved the rest of the episode. Everyone might have been a bit too clever, but there were enough interesting bits. Sally and Henry's mom interacting was great.

mh, Wednesday, 11 April 2012 14:28 (twelve years ago) link

dream sequence was telegraphed from the moment he collapsed on the bed and by the time he was strangling the woman it's moving into insulting that they are asking me to suspend disbelief that this is "actually happening"
c.f. betty's dream sequence in ep prior

boy, was that Dan Fielding hungry for some cake! (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 11 April 2012 14:47 (twelve years ago) link

Maybe the only part that was a dream was where he thought he killed her.

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Wednesday, 11 April 2012 14:58 (twelve years ago) link

I mean, it did seem to last pretty long, cutting back to other plot points, etc.

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Wednesday, 11 April 2012 14:58 (twelve years ago) link

Yeah, I initially thought it couldn't have been a dream b/c it wasn't a stand-alone scene.

Cuba Pudding, Jr. (jaymc), Wednesday, 11 April 2012 15:01 (twelve years ago) link

megan says she came straight home and he was delirious
i think with that info, the only reading that makes sense to me is that either he fever dreamed the whole thing or everything after he pushed her out the back door and i'm inclined to think the former
lines like "they think she made all this but I know it was you" are VERY draper-y ni their subtext; also the suggestion that this chick is so desperate for don dick that she finds his new home the day after she finds out he's married is kinda hella unlikely?

boy, was that Dan Fielding hungry for some cake! (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 11 April 2012 15:04 (twelve years ago) link

not even the day after! it's like five hours later!

boy, was that Dan Fielding hungry for some cake! (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 11 April 2012 15:05 (twelve years ago) link

that is why I thought it was a dream when she showed up there

man practically every one of Pauline's lines in this episode was amazing. "you can watch the sunset from your bedroom window. It's the saddest sight in the world" etc.

i feel like they introduced her as a major character b/c let's face it betty herself is boring

<i>"new home the day after she finds out he's married is kinda hella unlikely?"</i>
Still very possible in the days before FB and Google via phonebooks and tricking the secretary into divulging that information. But yeah, there is no doubt it was a dream.

But she could have been that desperate and found what she was looking for, finally. Remember Beat girl planting herself in his lobby? Still, I have no doubt it was dream.

Speck, performing oral sex on another inmate,[39][40] sharing a huge pile of cocaine with an inmate, parading in silk panties, sporting female-like breasts (allegedly grown using smuggled hormone treatments), and boasting, "If they only knew how much fun I was having, they'd turn me loose."

what level of fuckery this is?

moullet, Friday, 13 April 2012 00:23 (twelve years ago) link
