I misread that as "Jack is getting the boning of his life" and, well, you can guess the rest...

Dahlin, just in case you wanted to know, there used to be a very irritating bloke round these parts whose surname had the same first four letters as your user name - he was banned from ILX. Someone has therefore decided that you might be him and has asked if you are or not - details are on this thread but I've stuck up for you as not being him, so please don't tell me that you used to be an attention-seeking boy in a previous incarnation or I'll look stupid.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Saturday, 2 July 2005 15:47 (eighteen years ago) link

Are people going to see Dot to Dot then? It's that or being dragged to see War of the Worlds against my will, or watching Live8.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 2 July 2005 16:15 (eighteen years ago) link

I'm curious as to why Dot to Dot aren't part of Live8. Or War of the Worlds.

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 2 July 2005 16:44 (eighteen years ago) link

i'm not there - i hope this doesn't mean cozen is on his own

:/

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 2 July 2005 21:12 (eighteen years ago) link

We missed you, Colin. Keith, you were good. You should get Cut Copy the next time they come over. They would be a perfect Optimo band, for me.

Two ABC visits in a week. I practically LIVE there.

Ally C (Ally C), Sunday, 3 July 2005 02:11 (eighteen years ago) link

the ABC was far, far, far too hot. you'd think if they could spend a million pounds plus doing the place up they could at least put in some air conditioning. and it took an hour to get a drink at the bar, and the sound system was way too quiet..moan moan moan.

anyway, despite gripes glad to hear that you were there ally. i knew jed wouldn't make it as i had a feeling his 'team' would let him down.

as for cut copy, i would love to have them play. i saw them earlier in the year and they were great fun. i just don't know how to go about contacting them. how about dot to dot playing some time? we could do a big discount for ilx'ers.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Sunday, 3 July 2005 02:26 (eighteen years ago) link

Blimey, we would LOVE to play. But would people accept a bunch of indie no-hopers? We might get lynched!

The heat was palpable, yes, but not as bad as the Woodside! The bar queue annoyed me when I wanted to dance to 'Maps' etc in a great 20 minute section and was stuck there. The sound was loud enough I guess, but was that it at it's limit? The ABC seems an OK place, overall.

I am listening to 'Sailing' by Christopher Cross. This is making me very happy before I go to sleep.

Ally C (Ally C), Sunday, 3 July 2005 02:32 (eighteen years ago) link

Sorry I couldn't make it. I didn't finish at work till 12.30 and wasn't really in the mood. I like the ABC though. I've been there twice in a week too, but I guess Anthony & The Johnsons didn't need to be so loud or cool. Maybe I like the ABC2 more.

Blimey, we would LOVE to play. But would people accept a bunch of indie no-hopers? We might get lynched!

Just play a 30 minute extended version of that opening instrumental and you'll be fine.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 July 2005 09:27 (eighteen years ago) link

Sorry I couldn't make it either. I couldn't be arsed.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 3 July 2005 09:51 (eighteen years ago) link

i knew jed wouldn't make it as i had a feeling his 'team' would let him down.

i always come to BRWH's! i think i've been to every one since Raumschiere (sp?). however, you are right, i'm crap to have missed it :(

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 3 July 2005 10:28 (eighteen years ago) link

dottodot@optimo cool!

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 3 July 2005 10:29 (eighteen years ago) link

we missed you, colin.

stirmonster, you practically made my year with the perfect twenty minute section starting w/the mingling bells of mayer's maps and brutalga square and the 5, 10, 15 minute wait for the main line of dexter to come in.

I should have some pictures of basteroid up on flickr soon enough.

c/n (Cozen), Sunday, 3 July 2005 15:07 (eighteen years ago) link

I didn't notice the heat really but the volume level was really strange - it would have perfectly easy to hold a decent conversation in there. in fact, they could have had newsnight review or question time in there. maybe you could book them for the next brwh?

c/n (Cozen), Sunday, 3 July 2005 15:11 (eighteen years ago) link

spawn o sting looked creepily like his daddy-o
and was equally as non rockin', with an odd chicken pecking head tic as he strummed his plugged-in acoustic guitar. the drummer circulated among the 25-strong crowd afterwards asking people to sign his guest book.mailing list thingie. then the painfully awkward banter-making bassist put them all to shame when he literally got on his knees before ally, begging him to buy a £5 tee-shirt. wow. desperate is not the word. sad, perhaps?
what a gig.

dahlin (dahlin), Sunday, 3 July 2005 16:54 (eighteen years ago) link

An experience, at least.

All eyes on NEDFAP now, I suppose. But before that:

Friday, 8th July - GOODBYE 148 PARTY, 9PM ONWARDS. ALL WELCOME. xx

Ally C (Ally C), Sunday, 3 July 2005 21:39 (eighteen years ago) link

YES MORE ROFFLES PLEASE

c/n (Cozen), Sunday, 3 July 2005 21:43 (eighteen years ago) link

can we have a FAP a week on Friday? or Saturday? what else is happening in two weeks? a separate thread seems a bit excessive...

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Sunday, 3 July 2005 21:50 (eighteen years ago) link

look here now

I hope I'm able to be around for both nedfap and stevalixfap

c/n (Cozen), Sunday, 3 July 2005 22:02 (eighteen years ago) link

i kept thinking i was coming over in two weeks not three...stupid me. this is excellent timing with Isolee then - fantastic.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Sunday, 3 July 2005 22:21 (eighteen years ago) link

isolee when? i thought it was july 24th?
