Having a serious journalist use the phrase the "N-word" is beginning to take its toll. Doesn't this seem like an abdication of journalistic responsibilities to use the euphemism when discussing the subject? For example, did the researcher mentioned here actually type "N-word" into the google search box?

Admittedly, I'm avoiding the use of the word here, mostly to dodge censorship of my peers, and perhaps even a comment filter. But it just seems like a step backwards toward kindergarten to see responsible, rational adults discussing a serious subject, yet fearing to even speak its name. If the purpose is to avoid offense, it would seem more appropriate to take another step back and use a term such as "racial slur". This at least leaves some question in the reader's mind. When you say "N-word", it leaves no question in anyone's mind what has been mentioned, and it really doesn't even cushion the blow. Who doesn't read the code phrase and instantly voice the actual word in his head (I say 'his' head because, obviously, I can't guess as to a feminine reaction...)?

When can we shuck these PC affectations and someday start to call an S-word an S-word? If it's objectionable, then perhaps talking about it less, rather than in code will actually lead to its demise...

Oh yeah, one more thing: is it true that Mr. Yerushalmi's group SANEworks espouses the following ideas:

- It shall be a felony punishable by 20 years in prison to knowingly act in furtherance of, or to support the, adherence to Islam.

- The Congress of the United States of America shall declare the US at war with the Muslim Nation or Umma.
