it's true, that word has only come into popular parlance in the last several decades.

if only they had it when Hammer started making Dracula films with Christopher Lee...I might have been less confused.

LOL @ anyone thinking this will end on the third film if this continues to bank.

If you don't end it on the third film, you can't reboot it again.

If you don't end it on the third film, you can't reboot it again.

The original ST crew went 6 movies before the TNG took over!

Also:
Batman (1989)
Batman Returns (1992)
Batman Forever (1995)
Batman & Robin (1997)

But rebooting is how things work now.

My only question is why it took them 4 years to make part 2, that's way too long a wait IMO

bcz the current cast looked like 21 Jump Street?

(then again, that's what the customers like)

im assuming abrams took too long with super 8 and paramount didnt feel like getting someone else to do it. they had a 2012 release date set but when abrams finally committed there wasnt even a real script and it had to get pushed back

this doesn't make any sense as an answer to my question, regardless it is very insightful.

five months pass...

Star Trek Into Darkness. Hopefully they go the full Die Hard route with the sequels.

Don't know if they'll do it with this one, but I suspect the writers could revive all the Vulcans with the plot of Star Trek III.
