Everything about that ad is terrible.
― carl agatha, Thursday, 14 June 2012 03:04 (eleven years ago) link
I saw a guy fall face first into the revolving doors of my building this morning!!! He was carrying two cups of McDonald's coffee and coffee went everywhere and I was really worried that he was going to get his arm caught in the door and the dummies trying to exit the building wouldn't notice and his arm would get ripped off. But that didn't happen. He just spilled his coffee and whacked his face.
I hate seeing people fall.
― carl agatha, Thursday, 14 June 2012 14:36 (eleven years ago) link
Geez. Did anyone stop to ask him if he was ok?
― game of crones (La Lechera), Thursday, 14 June 2012 14:41 (eleven years ago) link
I did. I believe my helpful comment was, "Holy shit! Are you okay?" then I helped him pick up the coffee cups/lids. He said he was okay but would probably have a black eye and was pissed he had to go back to McDonalds for more coffee.
He works in the building so I'll probably see him again and can check out his shiner.
― carl agatha, Thursday, 14 June 2012 14:57 (eleven years ago) link
There's something about me that makes people ask me for directions and fall face first into things right in front me, I guess.
― carl agatha, Thursday, 14 June 2012 14:58 (eleven years ago) link
I'm super clumsy and have fallen down like that in public (not drunk!) multiple times.
― game of crones (La Lechera), Thursday, 14 June 2012 15:01 (eleven years ago) link
So I identify with that guy.
― game of crones (La Lechera), Thursday, 14 June 2012 15:02 (eleven years ago) link
Carl has tripped me too, that was the most recent one.
Not you carl, canine carl.
Carl the dog, to clarify. If you fell in front of me I would make sure you were okay. I'm practiced. xp!!!
In other fun carl agatha news, I accidentally bought "Fresh Wave" deodorant instead of unscented and now I aggressively smell like a dude.
Do any dudes want some "Fresh Wave" scented Mitchum? It doesn't smell anything like what you might think a wave, fresh or otherwise, would smell like.
― carl agatha, Thursday, 14 June 2012 15:04 (eleven years ago) link
Or ladies, if you like dude deodorant. I ain't judging.
― carl agatha, Thursday, 14 June 2012 15:06 (eleven years ago) link
I actually use Mitchum, which is funny only b/c their ad campaign is all MITCHUM MEN DO STEREOTYPICALLY DUDE-LIKE THINGS. But I'm good, thanks. (I use the unscented, too.)
― Never translate Dutch (jaymc), Thursday, 14 June 2012 16:45 (eleven years ago) link
Those ads are awful. I don't always buy Mitchum (any on sale unscented antiperspirant is fine with me), although it does work really well.

Wall of Voodoo cover band.

I've been obnoxiously productive today.
I would kind of love to be in a cool cover band
― Steve Youngblood (dan m), Thursday, 14 June 2012 19:42 (eleven years ago) link
yeah. as long as we cover songs with pretty easy guitar parts.

J3ff did I see you running West on Balbo yesterday around 6:00 pm or do you have a running doppleganger?

K8E and manfriend are going camping this weekend, too. In KY. But I think it's really camping - in a tent - not "camping."
I might go to NYC next weekend to escape the horrors of Pride. Strangely enough, if I do, I will be involved in a sort of camping, too. Brain Zeg**r is going to be doing some art thing on the LES about Arab-Americanism involving some kind of "weird modular house" where I would be a docent.

R and I went camping in WI last weekend. Tent camping, that is. It was fun but the ground was a little lumpy, I need a better bedroll.

I miss tent camping.

I would like to go tent camping again if I had porters to set everything up, prepare food and clean up, and break everything down again.
― carl agatha, Friday, 15 June 2012 03:14 (eleven years ago) link
Yeh, I'm wondering if I would still enjoy it. The labor is not the kind of stuff I particularly enjoy and I'm not sure the pay-off would be worth it anymore. Especially without being drunk. And also since camping areas are not just a few miles up the mountain like they were in NC.
Still, I would like to sit beside a fire and roast hot dogs and lay out by the lake.
― Je55e, Friday, 15 June 2012 15:26 (eleven years ago) link
That last sentence is what I'm talking about. I like sleeping outside, too, although I'm too old and creaky to sleep directly on the ground (or even with a Thermarest or whatever) these days.

There was one time when I had the opportunity and the will to eat jelly fish, but the restaurant had run out. I think that might have been my one window.

Like the time I ordered brain tacos one drunken evening and they were out. Probably not going to do that again!
― carl agatha, Friday, 15 June 2012 15:55 (eleven years ago) link
I was there w/ you. And I think you might have been w/ me when I tried to eat jellyfish. I think it might have been when you, Jeff, and I had Xmas dinner in Chinatown.
