Peanuts in coke were def a thing with certain v. Southern ladies when I lived in Alabama. The same ladies that would "take a powder" for a headache, probably with peanuts in coke.

Ok I don't get the logistics. You drink the salty coke and then at the end you eat the soggy nuts? Or you just kind of do both at once? Do they float?
― Hadrian VIII, Sunday, 8 July 2012 19:55 (eleven years ago) link
Yeah, they float. Get a few nuts with each swig.
― Neil Jung (WmC), Sunday, 8 July 2012 19:56 (eleven years ago) link
Got it.
I'm afraid I'm exactly the right amount of bummed-out that's necessary to do this. Tonight.

The bodega a block from my work had glass bottles and also peanuts. This isn't bad but it's not amazing tbh

I remember reading some short story or children's novel or something where a character did this and I was just perplexed. I was fixated on it for years and years and sometimes I'd think about doing it. I can't imagine the end result is anything but salty/flat/greasy coke and slimy peanuts (goobery goobers).

trying this now: mexican coke in a glass bottle, honey roasted peanuts (which was all they had in a small bag).

This seems like the perfect airline gambit, if you'd accept a plastic cup as a bottle substitute

i'm chewing the peanuts, fwiw.
― higgs bosonned by a wite kid after a aol beef (get bent), Monday, 9 July 2012 19:46 (eleven years ago) link
the only snag i hit was that the mexicoke bottle has a very narrow neck and it was hard to pour the peanuts in.

iirc peanuts haven't been on airlines in over a decade ;_;

vs.
So, for some reason I've been obsessing over this idea for weeks. And now I've finally done it--I've got four of these babies sitting there on a sheet of tin foil. Will they be as delicious as I hope? Or a runny, horrible mess?
