I in fact agree with some of the points that the stupid JPEG memes are trying to make, but taking the quote, putting it in Times new Roman in MS paint with a picture of the artist and throwing it on the Internet to try to make it seem Profound kind of achieves the opposite.

You know, I swore off arguing with strangers on the internet and here I am again, but really I need to control myself. So final points: Not that I can say what the image is "meant" to achieve, but I think the idea is not to be "profound" but to point out that the people in Iran aren't some weird aliens we should casually be talking about killing in mass numbers: they are kind of like....us. The use of Times New Roman font would tend to underscore this point, much as the photo would. If it is banal in presentation (again I don't really see how it's so bad) then that contributes to the message, basically. And I think I should go away now.

tbh i sometimes feel bad about hating on fb words+images stuff when some of my most sincere and love-filled friends post non-denominational spiritual ones and self-empowerment ones, but it's still hard not to lol a little

i don't mind 90% of these, as far as sentiments go or whatever - it's the constant stream of them that is annoying. i'm on facebook because i'm interested in knowing what my friends/family are doing, how they're getting on, what interesting things they've been doing/talking about/learning, but so many of them never post anything about their actual lives, it's just endless sharing of 'inspirational' or 'funny' quotations.
