okay but yes some people do really well with the bread and cakes and steaks, i'm sure

oh hey there should be a place like pies n' thighs called cakes n' steaks!!!

rrrobyn, Thursday, 23 August 2007 18:19 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah, the grass-fed beef IS amazing.I will eat a bite on occasion. But red meat is bad for arthritic inflammation.

Beth Parker, Thursday, 23 August 2007 18:19 (sixteen years ago) link

As I have boringly droned on about elsewhere.

oh hey lookit that - but there's room in the world for another one, esp with the 'n part instead of boring 'and'

i haven't even looked for grass-fed beef - i hear bison is grass-fed but i haven't looked for that either. another good thing abt not eating convenience junk foods is that when you don't buy them you have more money to spend on expensive yuppie foods like bison aw yeah

I did my gap year of vodka + cigarettes + caffeine already: lost 30 lbs and slept A LOT and my friends had to intervene to feed me. Also I learned that when I have run out of body fat to hate (because I'm starving), I will instead hate my skeleton for not being narrower. THAT is the way madness lies.

it's really not that hard to make healthy eating decision

self control + will power + some exercise really goes a long way

cutty, Thursday, 23 August 2007 19:28 (sixteen years ago) link

in all seriousness avoiding crappy processed foods in excellent advice.

has anyone else noticed that the urge to overeat is greatly reduced when eating good food. not necessarily like health food just tasty well prepared food.

jhøshea, Thursday, 23 August 2007 19:29 (sixteen years ago) link

AKSING TOOO MUCH

jhøshea, Thursday, 23 August 2007 19:30 (sixteen years ago) link

It's true! I've dropped maybe two sizes since winter just by bringing my brek + lunch to the office from home. It forces me to cook (and saves money) and makes me look forward to eating my own awesome handiwork much more than when lunch was pizza. Not to harsh pizza, because y'know it's PIZZA...but. And also I <3 <3 <3 my bike(s) for keeping me outside and occupied and getting me places FAST.

Laurel, Thursday, 23 August 2007 19:31 (sixteen years ago) link

seriously when i see someone eating fritos and reeses peanut butter cups for breakfast (as i did today) i want to slap them

that's where cocaine comes in

No, that was the night before.

Laurel, Thursday, 23 August 2007 19:42 (sixteen years ago) link

cocaine is tricky. it increases the need to drink, so there's beer calories, plus "suicide tuesday" often finds one seeking comfort food.
crystal meth might be the better choice.

sexyDancer, Thursday, 23 August 2007 19:46 (sixteen years ago) link

That looks incredible...

This drug talk is making me sick to my stomach. The smoking meats was a good ancedote.

Ms Misery, Thursday, 23 August 2007 20:11 (sixteen years ago) link

Buh, anyone who has worked in a grocery is going to hate me, but how I got to stop BUYING ricockulous snacks was: I would carry it around with me in the store and then stuff it somewhere it didn't belong. "This bag of miniature Almond Joys does not belong next to the barbecue sauce and mustard! Hahaha, SOMEONE is going to think this is the craaaaziest grocery store ever!" (Well, it wasn't so much about the toddler-level of comic sophistication as I got to ditch the item as impulsively as I picked it up, which is equally fun in its own way. For me.)

Abbott, Thursday, 23 August 2007 21:55 (sixteen years ago) link

that makes a lot of sense to me

Back when I cared more and was committed to losing weight and also working out in every spare moment of my free time, I ate a low fat (never more than 25%) diet w/no convenience/snack foods every day except Fridays. On Fridays, I got to indulge the food fantasy I'd been having all week - chocolate or barbeque or crispy duck w/ plum sauce or cheesecake. Then it was back to beans and salads and lowfat plain yoghurt on baked potatoes. It worked for me for as long as I needed it to.
