I find the name of that website mentioned in the lower right-hand corner to be a questionable one for a fitness website…

i feel as if people drawn to this form are trying to undo the internet. you're on the internet!! you shouldn't have to hardcode a url into a graphic file!

i do feel like some (most) of the people posting these things probably only really have trouble finding parking spaces or a good mocha latte and never actually have to climb insurmountable mountains of adversity. but what do i know, maybe they do. but if they do why are they on facebook so much? they should be outside climbing mountains of turmoil or something.

scott seward, Wednesday, 15 August 2012 02:27 (eleven years ago) link

og seems kinda cool in the scheme of selfhelpy motivational dudes. half my company is waaaaay into that stuff, surprised he's not mentioned.

My friend's boutique Uptown Minneapolis* was selling black rubber bracelets in '83 or thereabouts; nevertheless I discovered that big black hardware store washers were a) cheaper and b) had a variety of thicknesses that looked awes when worn together in quantities. Wore these with a huge paint-spattered, utterly dishragged white teeshirt of my dad's. Thanks, Dad! Thanks, hardware store manager uncle!

*Gone now, they also sold fluorescent rubber bracelets and those half-coloured tin bangles impressed with diamond shapes, avoided by those of us who wouldn't appreciate looking like a member of the Go-Gos' farm team.

see inlaycard for details (suzy), Thursday, 16 August 2012 21:55 (eleven years ago) link

yeah i knew girls who got their bracelets from automotive/hardware stores. and that would have been 83 come to think of it. by 84 i was on to bigger and better things like those indian bracelets i would get on marthas vineyeard. loved those things. i probably felt like it brought me closer to terry hall who was my spirit guide. man, canal jeans was so dayglo in 1983. like a nuclear accident or something. i was always so sad when i had to go home to connecticut. i should have just run away.
