congratulations (n/a), Thursday, 16 August 2012 21:05 (eleven years ago) link

Just GIS'd him and yeah, that makes sense, though he also looks like Matt Damon, IMO.

doglatting (jaymc), Thursday, 16 August 2012 21:15 (eleven years ago) link

what if PSH and matt damon had a baby

Oh is that who plays "Todd"?

ms. cookie (carl agatha), Thursday, 16 August 2012 21:51 (eleven years ago) link

I read someone on here talking about the "guy from Friday Night Lights."

ms. cookie (carl agatha), Thursday, 16 August 2012 21:51 (eleven years ago) link

yes!

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Thursday, 16 August 2012 21:54 (eleven years ago) link

PLEASE NO MORE INFO ABOUT THE CURRENT SEASON OF BREAKING BAD I IMPLORE YOU

congratulations (n/a), Thursday, 16 August 2012 21:56 (eleven years ago) link

no more, promise

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Thursday, 16 August 2012 21:56 (eleven years ago) link

Okay! Sorry, bro.

ms. cookie (carl agatha), Thursday, 16 August 2012 21:57 (eleven years ago) link

There are no spoilers, though. I used quotes around "Todd" to be a dumbass and did not intend to convey anything meaningful about the show or the character. Honestly.

ms. cookie (carl agatha), Thursday, 16 August 2012 21:57 (eleven years ago) link

That's terrifying.

ms. cookie (carl agatha), Thursday, 16 August 2012 22:32 (eleven years ago) link

We just finished S3 of Breaking Bad, btw.

LL, I'm down w/ your bday.

I'm not sure what to do with that pic of my boy, but of course it made me love him even better.

just admire it, not sure what else you could do with it aside from enlarging it and making it into a mask
:)

it amuses me to think that this ^^ is inner thoughts of jeff

I love weekends. That's what I'm into these days.

i'm ready for the weekend even though we have zero plans and we're all kind of sick

congratulations (n/a), Friday, 17 August 2012 14:25 (eleven years ago) link

i just read "hammer of the gods" and now i'm listening to led zeppelin and it's crazy how many led zeppelin songs there are i don't know. i felt like i "knew" led zeppelin but i guess i only really knew the hits. i'm listening to "presence" and i swear i've heard none of these songs before.

congratulations (n/a), Friday, 17 August 2012 14:28 (eleven years ago) link

sorry, we don't have to talk about led zeppelin

congratulations (n/a), Friday, 17 August 2012 14:44 (eleven years ago) link

haha you're all self conscious from yesterday
i'm reading "i'm with the band" for the first time and it's kind of tender! i think things will go downhill pretty quickly but the little diary bits interjected into her narrative are really naive and charming.

i had a dream about you guys last night and part of it was kinda sad and private, but the rest of it was kinda funny and set at an opera. c-noodle looked AMAZING and had huge boufy hair, and carl was the queen. it was kind of weird, but i am so thankful that i got 8.5 hours of sleep last night that i feel sort of elated about it.

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Friday, 17 August 2012 14:51 (eleven years ago) link

Queen of the opera??? I like that.

I love Led Zeppelin. I will talk about them! I don't have much to say about Presence, though, since I never listened to it that much. Maybe I should.

ms. cookie (carl agatha), Friday, 17 August 2012 14:55 (eleven years ago) link

now i want to start a poll about who was the worst person in led zeppelin but there have been like 200 led zeppelin threads already. anyways it's gotta be either jimmy page (who was generally creepy all the time) or john bonham (who was supposedly a sweetheart unless he was drunk, which unfortunately was most of the time).

congratulations (n/a), Friday, 17 August 2012 14:56 (eleven years ago) link

i'll let you know what pamela has to say

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Friday, 17 August 2012 14:57 (eleven years ago) link

Was JP creepy because he thought he hung out with Anton Levay and owned an occult bookshop and thought he was a tiny alchemist or was he creepy with the ladies?

Also, I think they were all creepy with the ladies. :(

ms. cookie (carl agatha), Friday, 17 August 2012 15:01 (eleven years ago) link

I read Hammer of the Gods in high school, I think, so I don't remember much other than the retelling of the infamous shark incident.

ms. cookie (carl agatha), Friday, 17 August 2012 15:01 (eleven years ago) link

thought he was a tiny alchemist
adorable!

Weekend!

* Going to Sun Wah for dinner tonight. Party of eight -- I will be one of two people not eating duck.
* Surprise birthday party in Evanston tomorrow afternoon for a friend of Kr's. (Boy, I hope she doesn't read this thread.)
* Maybe check out the film noir festival at the Music Box Sat. night?
* Brunch with my mom on Sunday.
* Have a 1,250-word freelance* assignment due a week from today that I should REALLY get started on this weekend, but I don't know when, and tbh, the whole thing has me kind of stressed out. (*It's for work, but I'm doing it off the clock for extra $$$.)
* Hoping this weird inexplicable muscle soreness in my right foot/leg for the past week sorts itself out. Esp. before I go to D.C. next weekend.

doglatting (jaymc), Friday, 17 August 2012 15:03 (eleven years ago) link

I saw JP's dragon suit in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and he was a wee little man.

Oooo film noir festival sounds really appealing.

ms. cookie (carl agatha), Friday, 17 August 2012 15:09 (eleven years ago) link

omg the clothing exhibit at the hof is one of my favorite clothing exhibits OF ALL TIME

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Friday, 17 August 2012 15:13 (eleven years ago) link

they were all creepy with the ladies. the occult stuff is vaguely creepy but i guess i meant mainly he's the one who seems most like a creep at heart, lots of stuff about him being stingy and pulling weird power plays and being vaguely insulting to people for no reason. also he was the one who was specifically into young teenage girls.

congratulations (n/a), Friday, 17 August 2012 15:13 (eleven years ago) link

I am also attending a surprise birthday party this weekend. I don't think they read ILX.

re: the Music Box, jesse, ct, and I are going to the 5:30 showing of The Phantom Lady.

ms. cookie (carl agatha), Friday, 17 August 2012 16:14 (eleven years ago) link

film noir fest sounds fantastic!

there was a giant gang graffito on the building across from us, which was then covered with more gang graffiti the next day, and more the next day. i went to call 311 to get it removed and checked the address to find it was already completely gone!

re: the Music Box, jesse, ct, and I are going to the 5:30 showing of The Phantom Lady.

Oh cool -- I'm not sure if we'll be back from Evanston in time for that, but if so, maybe we will join you? We were originally thinking about The Window at 7:30.

doglatting (jaymc), Friday, 17 August 2012 20:58 (eleven years ago) link

We were deciding between The Phantom Lady and The Window and the promise of "Elisha Cook’s manic interlude as a wigged-out jazz drummer in orgiastic frenzy" in The Phantom Lady was too hard to pass up. Contact one of us if you are going to make it and we'll save seats!

ms. cookie (carl agatha), Friday, 17 August 2012 21:02 (eleven years ago) link

clouds, what part of town do you live in now?

I'm really looking forward to The Phantom Lady!

c.a., check out the astonishing improvements at the Cook County Courts' website!! http://www.cookcountycourt.org/ It is actually NOT-USELESS anymore!! Co-worker and I just nerded out all over. Before now there was no centralized website to get info about all Cook County Courts' judges and about court rules for free. Which, WTFF?

je55e, i'm in ukie village. the gang tagging is surprising as it is definitely a nascent yoga mommy/single white dudes w/ tech jobs neighb.

Fucking Dorrie Brown. I voted for her opponent so hard. The Law Bulletin reported on the appalling mess she let court records become - appeals attorneys crippled by missing case files and documents (I was looking at a small divorce file this week where 6 documents on the socket were missing, including orders, which can become important later).

They have e-filing - which they brag about on slick banners strung up all over the place (meanwhile vital, informational signage is scrawled on copy paper with a dull Sharpie) - but only in ONE branch of ONE department. The fucking banners fail to mention that fact.

We've been working with a lawyer from Tuscaloosa, Alabama this week and he said that all Alabama state circuit courts have had e-filing for years. Alabama!

Sorry. I was hearing some of the words above as Diamana Gs shrieks.
