writing a thinkpiece on the results of all pre-suffrage elections using some loose psychology on homoerotic desire

lol this asshole

it's interesting to read NR for which writers have given themselves the beat of popularizing for acceptable conservatism certain kinds of way-out right-wing ideas. for wmson it appears to be all the evo-psych/PUA/scentific misogyny stuff.

odd in a way that he hasn't gone full-on derb in terms of white nationalism, since the two go together, but gone to its bizarro-world opposite.

He can just focus all of his hatred on women that way.

From an evolutionary point of view, Mitt Romney should get 100 percent of the female vote

From an evolutionary point of view, shouldn't Mitt Romney have died at least ten years ago?

In 2010, Romney and his wife were flying back from the Vancouver winter Olympics when a guy flipped out on the plane and took a swing at him. Romney had reminded the guy to return his seat to the full upright and locked position before take-off — that’s our Mitt, no?

put it in all caps: R-MONEY. Jay-Z can keep his puny little lowercase letters and the Maybach: R-MONEY doesn’t own a flashy car with rims, R-MONEY does billion-dollar deals with Keystone Automotive and Delphi. You want to make it rain? R-MONEY is going to make it storm, like biblical. Rappers boast about their fat stacks: R-MONEY’s fat stacks live in a beachfront house of their own in the Hamptons, and the bricks in that house are made from tightly bound hundred-dollar bills.

things start to get a little zany with this paragraph. Kevin D. Williamson was obviously sipping the Cristal (like a rapper!) while putting together this piece

Thanks WEBSITE!! (Z S), Wednesday, 22 August 2012 17:44 (eleven years ago) link

and the last!

It's difficult to tell exactly how to read Williamson's article. It seems like there is a tongue in cheek element to the whole thing, and (probably by design) it is not always clear whether he wants to be read entirely literally or not. Undoubtedly he will call his detractors humorless when the inevitable angry reactions come in, and of course those angry reactions are part of the point, the article is obviously supposed to offend the "right" people as a means of attracting attention (clearly the editors have taken a page from the Tina Brown playbook with this one). So having acknowledged all of that, and recognizing that to some degree I am reacting exactly the way that Williamson and NR intends for a certain portion of the audience to react, I'll just say that taken at face value, Williamson's argument is troubling, as it is implicitly premised on the idea that women (and specifically daughters) are objectively worth less than men and sons.

But hey! Why be so up tight?! I should stop being such a stick in the mud feminazi! Am I right? It's all just a big joke! Or maybe it isn't ( unless you take it seriously and don't like it, in which case go jump in a lake). So... fine. In that same spirit in which Williamson may or may not be joking, and adopting the primitive tribal outlook that he advocates (or maybe he doesn't!), I look forward to the day when National Review starts running articles in support of going back to the way things are supposed to be and stripping women of their voting rights and treating them as property. Just kidding! Or maybe not, who can say really.

P.S. I know that the lead time on cover stories is pretty long, but of all the weeks that National Review might have chosen to publish an intentionally provocative article calculated to offend, they chose a spectacularly bad one in this, the week of the Akin affair in which Democrats are making the argument to undecided women voters that Republicans don't like them.

Kevin's article was swagtastic, and Katrina's response is over-careful hedging and framing. The root of "virtue" is "man," and Kevin was clearly calling Mr. Romney to be open about his manliness. The feminism regnant today denies the fundamental complementarity of the sexes, but women want manly men as much as they want faithful me. Keep it going, Kevin. Cut loose, Katrina.

Once again, behavior that is bog standard for any other politician becomes history's greatest outrage when the black guy does it. (Make sure to read the comments in the original to see what a bubble these people live in.)
