I believe I used plow in the context of being drunk, having sex, and possibly also farming.

In a confluence of terrible things, Chipotle has hosting some kind of a food and music festival at which G Love & Special Sauce is playing.

If you can't finish your burrito, you can take it home and stick it in the fridge stick it in the fridge stick it in the fridge stick it in the fridge.

I paid to see that asshole sometime in the early or mid-90s at a bar in Newark, DE. I liked that one album with the stick it in the fridge song on it but thought his live performance was one of the most boring shows I had seen to date. It actually killed my affection for the album.

he had a bass player who looked like a gnarly trucker, he was a big older dude with a beard, that's all i really remember

also LOL how did I not know until now that Rob Lowe was in a Lifetime movie about the dude

DX Dx DX (dan m), Thursday, 6 September 2012 20:28 (eleven years ago) link

I was pretty sure he killed Savio (I have read enough true crime books to know that when three of a person's spouses all die in the same way, it's murder) but I wasn't totally sure that they would find him guilty.

I was unaware of this Lifetime movie. Rob Lowe played Drew Peterson? That's... a stretch.

carl agatha, Thursday, 6 September 2012 20:32 (eleven years ago) link

I had a feeling they would just try him over and over again under different conditions until they found him guilty. At the least, he was a massive dick. It just gets worse after that. I wonder if his fourth wife will ever turn up?

Tom Skerritt busy that week?

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 6 September 2012 20:42 (eleven years ago) link

That would work. Something about Tom Skerritt always gave me the willies anyway.

carl agatha, Thursday, 6 September 2012 20:46 (eleven years ago) link

hahaha I just overhead my coworker say "They had a movie about him and Rob Low played him."

I got a notice from the Liquor Commission saying that a Smashburger is opening next door. Welcome, Smashburger. Will smash.

Other retail updates:

- It is confirmed that the enormous Walgreens in the former Borders/bank and the new CVS right across the street in the Century shopping center are both opening.
- The empanadas truck people have a sign up next door to the Century - maybe a store?

There's what I assume is going to be a liquor store (it's called Bottles & Cans) opening next to Browntrout. I hope it's a fancy liquor store.

Going to Wrigley Field for the first time tonight...

Earth, Wind & Fire & Alabama (Eazy), Saturday, 8 September 2012 15:12 (eleven years ago) link

Carl and I were discussing the impending Smashburger the other day. She thought it would be similar to The Counter, but I countered that it would be similar to an Epic Burger.

Going to Wrigley Field for the first time tonight...

It took me a really long time to figure out that this FB status, posted by an acquaintance of mine, was in reference to the Springsteen show:

Mary showed up, and brought Wendy and Janey with her. There was also a barefoot girl on the hood of a Dodge, drinking warm beer in the soft summer rain. Tom Morello and Eddie Vedder stopped by. It was a good night.

^This is a guy who, IIRC, gets off on Important and Iconic art. One of the last times I saw him, he was going on about how There Will Be Blood was the greatest American film in decades.

Jeffrey, IIR Epic Burger correctly, I think you're right about Smashburger. They are going to be those flat patties. Like at M Burger and Steak & Shake. They are very vocal about their smashing.

I have a ticket for The Magic Flute at Chicago Opera Theater on 9/26 that I cannot use or change if anyone wants to go. Just one ticket but you can have it at no cost to you.

I didn't see it, but a few h.s. friends posted about it on FB, delighting in the errors of geography -- e.g., visible palm trees in a couple of scenes, a "B0lingbr00k Middle School" (we had several middle schools).

ON STRIKE SHUT IT DOWN CHICAGO IS A UNION TOWN

the late great, Monday, 10 September 2012 04:09 (eleven years ago) link

I fully support the unions and their ability to strike, but I hope there are no major repercussions from this. Union support and membership are at all-time lows, and this is the sort of strike that hurts kids and parents first and foremost. I hope they resolve it soon. Can any of you better illustrate the sticking points here? I am under the impression it is not about money, but I find that hard to believe (I think teachers agreed to a pay freeze a few years ago, and now are angling for a raise to retroactively make up for the lost pay?). What are the sticking points?
