this is probably the wrong thread for this question, but does anyone here have experience w/ installing windows on a mac w/ boot camp and know a quick and easy way to do it?

I don't have a good answer for this, I bought VMWare Fusion and installed Windows on that instead

which version of Windows? You can install 8 from a USB stick, which is a breeze. XP I still haven't managed to get installed (partly because I only have a bluetooth keyboard these days)

But also -- unless you're doing games and need all the powers, VMWare Fusion is really very good now

i don't have any version of windows yet, so i'm going to have to buy one. do they sell them already on the USB stick?

ha again, I have no good answer for that because I have an MSDN subscription and downloaded an ISO directly to a USB stick

Mordy, if you have an optical drive, it's as easy as sticking the disc in, running the boot camp assistant, and clicking through the buttons

but yeah, same would work for a usb stick

I should put this in the hate apple thread, but I've been having a prob with my laptop kind of freezing on wake. I think it's either trying to start time machine before the wifi wakes up and is hanging, or who knows. The system logs haven't been useful.

googling makes me think this might be Transmit, or another app trying to use bonjour on wake. idk, it is just irritating.

btw, I finally figured out that my computers were seeing the 802.11n signal at 2.4GHz before the 5GHz one and were connecting at that lame frequency. Told my airport to transmit a separate name on that channel, connected the devices that can use it, and my network is working much more interference-free. very recommended.

been having this issue since I updated to mountail lion - intensely annoying. I found a fix yesterday that sounded promising (involving playing around with wifi settings) - will report back if anyone else is interested.

I removed Transmit's menu item from my startup stuff and it seems ok now. I think it's some issue with apps invoking bonjour stuff on wake and it locking the network interface up.

I'm hoping for a refactored iTunes that's more component-based so we have a music app and an iPhone/iPod/iPad sync app

if this is just a stretched 4s I think i'll probably be too lamed out to care abt the dock

their biggest challenge is LTE, they have to deliver on it in order to compete but it will murder battery life which is already not too great

I have two friends who have owned every single iPhone. One is a tech analyst so he has some excuse for it; the other one has also owned every iPad and is just an Apple zombie.

Hoping for new iMacs today; I've got that new 27" smell in my nose, retina display or no.

Figured after some hesitation I will go for the 5 if only because while I love my 3Gs it's probably about time. However I want to see what prices are before definitely deciding.

3gs only worth sticking with if your time is worth nothing or you use no apps made post-2010

My wife got a 3GS a month ago and loves it. She was hardcore Blackberry til then. She only uses it for calls, email, maps and the web so it's basically perfect for her.

And I have to say it feels much nicer in the hand than the current crop of 90-degree angle iPhones.
