Rahm totally days away from framing Karen Lewis for plotting to blow something up.

I canceled my Chicago Card 30 day unlimited rides pass after paying for it on July 20, so it should have stopped working on August 20 give or take, yet it is still working almost 1 month later. It just won't stop. I've checked the CTA's website several times and it is definitely not funded. I am riding for free.

So let that be a fuck you to you, Rahm. What are you gonna sue me too?

So last night a friend posted on Facebook at 11:30 that the Chbs game had been rain-delayed and was in its second inning, so I went and watched the game with a few hundred fans in the stands. Got to walk all around the place.

For whatever reason that video goes black every time I start it.

Ended at 1:30 a.m. My first Cubs game ever. They lost 3-0, had three hits the entire game, and a compelling walk in the ninth inning.

Yeah, I think thats why they forced the game in. This is the first season I haven't been to a Cubs game in ages, but thats probably for the best. I'm still kind of astounded that Houston is still ever worse than the Cubs.

cubs have a few bright spots in rizzo, castro (if he learns to play defense), maybe lehair if he gets hot again. seems possible that they could get better over the next few years (guess it would be hard to get worse).

i haven't been to any games this season either. i want to go to a white sox game but the idea of getting evie down there on public transport, keeping her entertained and sitting still for three hours, then getting her home is not appealing to me.

yeah that's a long day for a little one. i think they do have some hope for the future, but sometimes i can't tell if that's my blind optimism as a Cubs fan or something based on reality. Castro could be really something special though.

The time is now to get on the Fire bandwagon. 1 pt out of first in the East, 3rd best record overall in the league.

Of course it is like 20x harder to get out to a game than the Cubs/Sox.

^^ yeah, that's been the biggest stumbling block in trying to convince my wife to go to a Fire game.

There are some groups/bars that run buses w/ tickets and beer included, if that sounds like your thing. It really is a pain in the ass to drive, especially for the casual fan.

The stadium is beautiful, though, too bad it's in the middle of nowhere.

Yeah, funnily enough I was down there a lot during the construction of Toyota Park because the firm I was with at the time was converting a Venture store right in that area to a business college. Sadly the project wrapped up a couple months before Toyota Park opened and I haven't been down there since.

i'd like to take a whole day off work when it's grey and sleeting and sit on the couch next to the damp windows, in my robe with a blanket on my feet, sipping weak tea with the cats dozing next to me from morning until the closes a few hours later.

All sorts of cool shit going on in Hyde Park. I guess the University (which just received its highest even US News ranking; go nerdy alma matter!) has been spending lots of that tuition money on cash incentives to get stuff down there. Not just the Promontory but finally a real hotel, too - a Hyatt? - as well as supposedly lots of other restaurants and spots down the pipeline. Though really someone should reopen Tiki.

And they're about to open a gigantic arts-and-ideas center, too.

I think I've been to Hyde park twice in the 8 years I've lived in Chicago.
