No they're not.

don't get me wrong, it serves a place, especially when some people are best convinced by that form of expression

maybe it's just as bad... for me. well, but it's not, because half the time I agree with the science crowd. But they (especially the reddit-atheist types) end up conflating religious types who eschew science and those who are completely reasonable scientifically. or other crap.

neil degrasse tyson is all over my FB wall. i didn't even really know who he was until recently but i guess he's some kind of nerd icon and argh i hate that i just typed those two words together

now I'm sad

NdGT is pretty awesome even for a scientist.

yeah I mean what he does, astrophysicist and all, def makes him kind of a nerd magnet/hero/icon but that's just kind of a byproduct he's for everyone, not just nerds

He's really relate-able and funny and un-selfconscious, a great speaker, and the host of the NOVA podcast, which is pretty damn good.

not to pile on but he's always been a great daily show guest, this is a pretty nice little interview

Yeah, I actually really like NdGT. He's really likable and relatable and, most importantly, really seems engaging and not at all condescending with his smarts.

it's not like a kevin smith thing where his appeal is mystifying to people who don't like what he does. dude could read the phone book and you'd want 12 of them.

i used to follow him on twitter but some of the stuff he said was straight up reddit level atheism crusader poopy, which is just so you do not understand these things as good as you think you do, so i unfollowed him
