lotta crybabies on flickr today

Isn't there just! I don't mind the re-design. An option for a "classic view" would maybe be nice, possibly some minor customisation options for the photostream, but it certainly doesn't deserve the reaction it's had!

a lot of people are appearing in my feed with images that say "flickr: born 2004, died 2013" etc.people are crazy.

It's the account changes that are frustrating; I quite like the redesign.
I am hedging my bets though, so let's see if I can embed a photo from 500px...

Shame about the bit at the end.
what are people's complaints about the accounts change? do you have more than 1TB of photos?

Mr Jones, would you recommend 500px?
― not_goodwin, Tuesday, 21 May 2013 22:07 (ten years ago) link
Well, I've paid $25/year for 8 years for a Pro account. Now I can either let it lapse and get ads (I can ad-block, but ppl surfing my stream on a Guest Pass won't be) or pay twice as much for ad-free. Or just carry renewing the Pro account for as long as Yahoo decide to keep it going (it's not really part of the new structure). Bit annoying. A cheaper transition to Ad Free for long-term Pro users would've been nice.
xp - it seems quite nice, good blend of the new-style Flickr look with lots of text on the right. Don't fully understand the community aspect of it yet (one of my photos has a "pulse" of 52.6, whatever that means) but everything I've put up has a view or two.

i dont mind the layout, but its def making digging through 2000 photos of my photostream to find one specific photo pretty difficult compared to the old way
― gr8080, Wednesday, 22 May 2013 16:33 (ten years ago) link
I'll complain a little now. for whatever reason no photostreams will load on my work computer (5 year old or so imac). don't know why.
― chinavision!, Thursday, 23 May 2013 12:56 (ten years ago) link
like if i want to find a specific photo thats 1000 photos deep in my photostream, i used to be able to just skip to like page 20 or something and then click few a few more pages till i found it
with the new layout it seems like it gets really confused and the same photos show up on pages 14, 15, and 16

I find my own stuff by searching mainly so I'm fine there, but otherwise these changes are getting worse and worse for me. My flickr experience involves lots of wordy stuff - descriptions and comments - which are now buried below the fold. Plus all the hierarchical organization things (sets and collections) which have been rendered more or less invisible. Even Facebook gets you to albums more easily. Ughhhhh.

Flickr is reborn in my mind

I feel bad that I don't use it. Mostly bad for myself since I still pay for pro, just to keep the archive... but I don't take proper photos any more and my drawings go on instagram.

I'm still at it! My thing now is to polish off 'chunks' of uploads (alternating between friends/life and architecture tourism) and then hype those up with little ten-photo 'highlights' posts to Instagram. My Insta is private to friends only, so it's not like this is driving a ton of traffic... it's just to give me that feeling of sharing the pics with people in my circle.

Still paying for it, still pretty happy there. 27.5k images and counting. I'm always 2-3 weeks behind with uploads, worse if I've just had a proper shoot (like a wedding, last weekend) which isn't going to primarily be shared through Flickr, but it keeps me off the streets. Insta (private) is still mostly Proper Camera, but quickly wifi'd to my phone and generally same day, if not instant. Flickr is usually a superset of the same images, just a lot later.

I’m still there too. Like others, I’m a couple weeks behind
