Back to "ginger":
The use of ginger in the US to describe red hair took off with publication of the first Harry Potter book in 1998, says Kory Stamper of Merriam-Webster. Unlike in the UK, there is no anti-ginger prejudice in the US, she says - Americans think of warm, comforting things like gingerbread.
― Sandy Denny Real Estate (jaymc), Thursday, 27 September 2012 14:12 (eleven years ago) link
Ginger never used to mean 'all the kinds of red hair' - it was a synonym for 'strawberry blonde'.

Wait, what do they have in the UK - - - gingerpoison?
Again, the gripe (which is probably moving off into "innocuous things > IA" territory) isn't with the adjective "ginger," it's with the noun "a ginger" to describe a person, which just reeks of thinks-they're-quite-clever-and-cutting-edge on the part of the person saying it, IME.

Ginger is "warm and comforting"?? I can't think of a bigger downer on Christmas then when some elderly relative says they have a "treat" for you...and it's a gigantic ginger cookie! No super sweet sparkly Christmas cookies for you! Unless the ginger cookie is smothered in cream cheese frosting. Major childhood downer. The equivalent of a lump of coal.

Kind of annoying when these things don't have serious mistakes in them. The butterfly one has the capitalised "Child" and missing punctuation after "the wind", but that's it. Oh yeah, the capital "B" in "But". But a "beuatiful" or something would've been more satisfying.
