Anyone got a good restaurant suggestion in the vicinity of Lincoln Hall? Something for pre-concert eatz.

DX Dx DX (dan m), Wednesday, 3 October 2012 18:36 (eleven years ago) link

Folks who have been to Watershed -- would it be reasonable to go there with a group of 6-8 people on a Tuesday night? I have no idea how big it is.

Sandy Denny Real Estate (jaymc), Wednesday, 3 October 2012 18:55 (eleven years ago) link

What time would you arrive? Probably wouldn't be an issue.

Jeff, Wednesday, 3 October 2012 19:11 (eleven years ago) link

After work.

Sandy Denny Real Estate (jaymc), Wednesday, 3 October 2012 19:11 (eleven years ago) link

I'd say no issue then.

Jeff, Wednesday, 3 October 2012 19:13 (eleven years ago) link

Cool, thanks.

may as well just build a big wall around the neighborhood then

God. Shut up Lakeview! I'm down that way a lot and I've noticed to change in the area. Jesse is best qualified to respond, though. He even hangs out in that Panera sometimes.

It's like when the stuffed shirts bitched that The Center brought crime in the form of black (gasp!) gay (gasp!!) or trans (GASP!!!!!!) kids. Bc black kids are all criminals.

Chicago is pissing me off today.

carl agatha, Wednesday, 3 October 2012 22:08 (eleven years ago) link

NO change, that should say.

carl agatha, Wednesday, 3 October 2012 22:10 (eleven years ago) link

I've noticed no perceivable changes. I pass Panera all the time and I can barely tell a difference other than the sign.

Jeff, Wednesday, 3 October 2012 22:15 (eleven years ago) link

JFC. I'm writing to Toomey. I hope it stays and I hope (property) crime does increase so the rents don't get out of hand.

And no, I have noticed no fucking increase in shit happening. There have always been panhandlers, alcoholics, and crazy folks around here, and the only ruckus I notice comes from the ding-dongs shambling down the street from Yak-Zie's and Duffy's and tipping over newspaper machines.

(*・_・)ノ⌒ ☆ (Je55e), Thursday, 4 October 2012 04:38 (eleven years ago) link

Yeah I was gonna say the frathole bars around there have to contribute more than their fair share of chaos to the area.

Jesus HPV Crap, the CBS story is some shit. CBS OBTAINED THIS PHOTO [photo of a SHOPPING CART* in front of doorway next to Renaldi's pizza] TODAY THAT SAME SPACE NOW HAS A GATE! And another photo, this one of TRASH ON A STOOP**! Is Panera Cares hauling trash to your stoop in a shopping cart? CBS investigates.

Burn down local news studios, IMO.

* I know that very shopping cart. In fact, just last weekend I was telling Courtney about it b/c it kept showing up in various places, always with the same jacket in it. The real story here is the mysterious ghostly shopping cart.

** That stoop is the back door of The Vitamin Shoppe, and it was full of trash, vagrants, and a lot of piss since I first walked by it when I started going to Bally's in 2005 or 2006.

They person who annoys me most near Panara is the keyboard playing guy. Too fucking loud.

Jeff, Thursday, 4 October 2012 11:35 (eleven years ago) link

Yeh he sucks. It's not just the volume, it's his shitty speakers that buzz at high volumes. I want to have a talk with him.

(*・_・)ノ⌒ ☆ (Je55e), Thursday, 4 October 2012 13:42 (eleven years ago) link

I want to steal his keyboard and throw it in the lake. Then pee in the lake.

Jeff, Thursday, 4 October 2012 13:43 (eleven years ago) link

Imagine you are coming back from a 20 mile run and have to wait for the light to change and the music is just blaring in your ears. Instant rage.

Jeff, Thursday, 4 October 2012 13:45 (eleven years ago) link

Not sure yet I could do music on the 13th/14th, but it sounds fun, especially with the cyclone we came up with last time.

http://chicago.everyblock.com/announcements/oct03-loud-boom-5402229/

congratulations (n/a), Thursday, 4 October 2012 18:47 (eleven years ago) link

I didn't but I was sitting at the intersection of Cicero and 63rd about that time, a 737 flew right over the car while landing and it was pretty loud.

DX Dx DX (dan m), Thursday, 4 October 2012 18:57 (eleven years ago) link

What was the boom? WHAT WAS THE BOOM?

carl agatha, Thursday, 4 October 2012 19:05 (eleven years ago) link

did you hear it? it was only a second or two long but it was very loud and deep, didn't sound like a gun shot or a car crash

congratulations (n/a), Thursday, 4 October 2012 19:15 (eleven years ago) link

I heard no boom. I am, however, the boom king.

Jeff, Thursday, 4 October 2012 19:20 (eleven years ago) link

I didn't hear but I'm now convinces it ripped a hole in the fabric of space time and is slowly but inexorably sucking us into another, hellish dimension or releasing demons that will soon overcome the earth.

carl agatha, Thursday, 4 October 2012 19:59 (eleven years ago) link

and here i was thinking it was just a boring boom that i didn't hear or care about

You of all people should know better.

Hey how did you like Sleepaway Camp?

carl agatha, Thursday, 4 October 2012 20:14 (eleven years ago) link

IT WAS GREAT
I expected a little more nudity, but wow the ending was spectacular.

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Thursday, 4 October 2012 20:15 (eleven years ago) link

Yes! I'm so glad you liked it.

Judy's shower song is AMAZING and in a making of documentary we watched, the actress brags about "writing" it herself. :D

carl agatha, Thursday, 4 October 2012 20:18 (eleven years ago) link

Judy herself was amazing. She was like a tiny troll in a huge wig.

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Thursday, 4 October 2012 20:19 (eleven years ago) link

I heard no boom.

Disappointed in the comments. Not a single person blamed Obama.

Man that boom is interesting, particularly the link at the end re: seismic activity and mystery booms in Wisconsin. I bet there's a rabbit hole of conspiracy nuts somewhere about this.

HA HA jokes on me for not realizing that a high of 78 today and high of 52 tomorrow meant a precipitous drop in temperature and rain at some point today. This is a dumb, wet commute.

Especially now that my umbrella soaked my (dry clean only, natch) skirt right at the crotch where it 100% looks like I peed myself.

carl agatha, Thursday, 4 October 2012 23:27 (eleven years ago) link

Was having a super stressful morning today after being back from traveling all week and was looking forward to a calming walk in Grant Park before the nice weather turned to shit. Oh, wait, the entire fucking thing is already shut off with 8 foot high fence for the marathoners. WTF, already?

HAPPY BDAY TOOTS (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 5 October 2012 00:56 (eleven years ago) link

Oh, that's what all those barricades are stacked up all around are for. Last year I slept through it.

Japanese for Eato.

(*・_・)ノ⌒ ☆ (Je55e), Friday, 5 October 2012 14:09 (eleven years ago) link

the sound "ito" in japanese could mean thread, or someone's name, or it could just be something that "sounds japanese"

It's very patriotic?

carl agatha, Friday, 5 October 2012 16:46 (eleven years ago) link

It's a vessel for garbage with the flag on it. I can't help it, I think that's weird.
