I want to steal his keyboard and throw it in the lake. Then pee in the lake.

Imagine you are coming back from a 20 mile run and have to wait for the light to change and the music is just blaring in your ears. Instant rage.

Jeff, Thursday, 4 October 2012 13:45 (eleven years ago) link

Not sure yet I could do music on the 13th/14th, but it sounds fun, especially with the cyclone we came up with last time.

congratulations (n/a), Thursday, 4 October 2012 18:47 (eleven years ago) link

I didn't but I was sitting at the intersection of Cicero and 63rd about that time, a 737 flew right over the car while landing and it was pretty loud.

DX Dx DX (dan m), Thursday, 4 October 2012 18:57 (eleven years ago) link

What was the boom? WHAT WAS THE BOOM?

carl agatha, Thursday, 4 October 2012 19:05 (eleven years ago) link

did you hear it? it was only a second or two long but it was very loud and deep, didn't sound like a gun shot or a car crash

congratulations (n/a), Thursday, 4 October 2012 19:15 (eleven years ago) link

I heard no boom. I am, however, the boom king.

Jeff, Thursday, 4 October 2012 19:20 (eleven years ago) link

I didn't hear but I'm now convinces it ripped a hole in the fabric of space time and is slowly but inexorably sucking us into another, hellish dimension or releasing demons that will soon overcome the earth.

carl agatha, Thursday, 4 October 2012 19:59 (eleven years ago) link

and here i was thinking it was just a boring boom that i didn't hear or care about

You of all people should know better.

Hey how did you like Sleepaway Camp?

carl agatha, Thursday, 4 October 2012 20:14 (eleven years ago) link

IT WAS GREAT
I expected a little more nudity, but wow the ending was spectacular.

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Thursday, 4 October 2012 20:15 (eleven years ago) link

Yes! I'm so glad you liked it.

Judy's shower song is AMAZING and in a making of documentary we watched, the actress brags about "writing" it herself. :D

carl agatha, Thursday, 4 October 2012 20:18 (eleven years ago) link

Judy herself was amazing. She was like a tiny troll in a huge wig.

these albatrosses have no fear of man (La Lechera), Thursday, 4 October 2012 20:19 (eleven years ago) link

I heard no boom.

Disappointed in the comments. Not a single person blamed Obama.

And a shirt that said JUDY.

LL please consider being JUDY for Halloween.

Man that boom is interesting, particularly the link at the end re: seismic activity and mystery booms in Wisconsin. I bet there's a rabbit hole of conspiracy nuts somewhere about this.

HAPPY BDAY TOOTS (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Thursday, 4 October 2012 20:55 (eleven years ago) link

HA HA jokes on me for not realizing that a high of 78 today and high of 52 tomorrow meant a precipitous drop in temperature and rain at some point today. This is a dumb, wet commute.

Especially now that my umbrella soaked my (dry clean only, natch) skirt right at the crotch where it 100% looks like I peed myself.

carl agatha, Thursday, 4 October 2012 23:27 (eleven years ago) link

Was having a super stressful morning today after being back from traveling all week and was looking forward to a calming walk in Grant Park before the nice weather turned to shit. Oh, wait, the entire fucking thing is already shut off with 8 foot high fence for the marathoners. WTF, already?

HAPPY BDAY TOOTS (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 5 October 2012 00:56 (eleven years ago) link

Oh, that's what all those barricades are stacked up all around are for. Last year I slept through it.

Itto!

Japanese for Eato.

It's very patriotic?

It's a vessel for garbage with the flag on it. I can't help it, I think that's weird.

Is that real? I guess I'll find out since I walk by there on the way home from the train station.

If that's real I'm writing some letters.

carl agatha, Friday, 5 October 2012 21:08 (eleven years ago) link

When I first looked at it, I was 100% convinved it was a photoshop, but the more I look at it, I can't really point out what makes it look wrong. Something does feel off though, the text?

HAPPY BDAY TOOTS (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 5 October 2012 21:21 (eleven years ago) link

Fake. We still have a lovely miller lite billboard.

Jeff, Friday, 5 October 2012 21:42 (eleven years ago) link

The angle seems off on the right side. Also the text looks like the common Web typeface Impact.

And there's no Gino's Pizza on the Gino's Pizza sign.

Norah Jones Protest Vote (Eazy), Friday, 5 October 2012 22:02 (eleven years ago) link

Yeah, that's what gave it away for me.

DX Dx DX (dan m), Friday, 5 October 2012 22:38 (eleven years ago) link

I don't get why you would need to erase the Gino's Pizza logo?

Gino is a litigious SOB.

carl agatha, Friday, 5 October 2012 23:07 (eleven years ago) link

I re-joined LA Fitness (f/k/a Bally's) but with too long a lapse to qualify for the amazing Bally's rates. Still, I semi-accidentally negotiated a fairly good deal by sitting and thinking silently for too long about what the sales guy was saying. Instead of telling me rates, he kept fucking saying things like, "Well let me ask you: what would you feel comfortable spending?" I hate that sales shit.

I told him, "I want to pay what I was paying Bally's, with no sign-up fee." He tapped his computer and said, "I have great news for you! This location is going to be completely remodeled and by January it's going to be one of our A-level [or whatever] locations!"

smdh

(*・_・)ノ⌒ ☆ (Je55e), Sunday, 7 October 2012 15:56 (eleven years ago) link

I don't know how or why Bally's rates were so so super low. The sales guy called in the general manager who asked what my rate had been. He told him that it had been $123.00. The GM said, "Per YEAR?!" I bet those Bally's rates are a hard part of their job.

(*・_・)ノ⌒ ☆ (Je55e), Sunday, 7 October 2012 16:01 (eleven years ago) link

Had no idea Bally's was no more, but I remember those crazy deals. Was there a big one-time fee up front, and then that monthly rate locked in for life or something?

Norah Jones Protest Vote (Eazy), Sunday, 7 October 2012 16:21 (eleven years ago) link

No, not that I recall. I'm almost certain the initial fee was $50. For the first year or two the monthly rate was not as cheap. I think it was $19. Which is still pretty good.

Wow, fancy bday boy! Happy birthday, cloudgate, but I have plans to go visit a new 50" TV and its owners (K8E & spouse).

Mostly of interest to J/J, but here are some pics of the new Argyle station. Huge improvement.

Gone is the station house that once dripped filthy water into my just-opened morning commute Diet Coke. Such a symbolic event.
