I do have family in the Springs, good memory! But I'm moving to AZ (cheaper rent and warmer winter...I love CO though). I actually just got back from my gastro doc, and they printed out my records cause I told them I was moving. Can I go to a legit doc w/that and get an rx or are $100 weed docs the only route?

I have no idea what AZ is like but I don't think it's ever really a true prescription per se. It's more like a special card that is recognized by the dispensaries and maybe/maybe not somewhat regulated by the city/county/state, depending on where you are. I'm not sure that regular GPs are set up to deal with that. But maybe they can just write a note or prescription and the cards aren't necessary?

SPD seized a bunch of my marijuana before I-502 passed. Can I have it back?

No.

they also won't give you back the years of your life they took when they jailed you for non-violent marijuana possession. sorry!

Mordy, Saturday, 10 November 2012 05:26 (eleven years ago) link

they'll make it up to you by smoking you out.

I'll never forgive the SPD for the riot control tactics in 1999, but I commend them for being pretty good-humored about the pot law.

According to data from the National Institute on Money in State Politics, pro-marijuana political action committees out-raised opponents 8 to 1 in Colorado. The Washington, D.C.-based Marijuana Policy Project and Ohio-based Progressive Insurance executive Peter B. Lewis contributed almost $2.1 million of $2.4 million in pro-pot donations.

Will police officers be able to smoke marijuana?
As of right now, no. This is still a very complicated issue.

A bunch of WA counties essentially said fuck it and have already dropped all pending small time possession cases and won't prosecute any new ones.

Also realizing that my last teaching day of the semester is the first day after the law kicks in, guessing a couple of my students will be pretty fried.

Aimless, Thursday, 15 November 2012 18:30 (eleven years ago) link

Aimless, are you still feeling as cynical as you were in 2010 about the possibility of legalizing marijuana on a federal level?

Mordy, Thursday, 15 November 2012 18:39 (eleven years ago) link

Less so. The needle is moving toward federal deregulation, and removing it from the controlled list so states can regulate it. But all the movement is going to have to be initiated from grassroots and pushed up to the top. The congress and pres are not going to lead on this until it's obvious there is minimal political cost for dereg.

Aimless, Thursday, 15 November 2012 18:45 (eleven years ago) link

I've always held out hope that when the passage of time resulted in those who became adults before "the sixties" dying off and provided an evergrowing influx of voters who were born post "the sixties", what seemed impossible would quickly become inevitable.

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Thursday, 15 November 2012 19:39 (eleven years ago) link

Clue for that UN guy: your official interest is to control narcotics. Plz consult a reference book regarding marijuana's non-narcotic status. ty

Aimless, Wednesday, 21 November 2012 00:43 (eleven years ago) link

What a poorly written article too. It's obviously not about "decriminalized possession of small amounts of marijuana" since that has already happened without issue in other states.

Meanwhile, in AZ http://www.prwatch.org/news/2012/11/11876/corrections-corporation-america-used-drug-sweeps-public-school-students

CCA can stuff it afaic -- esp their for-profit immigration detention centers

CCA, the nation's largest for-profit prison/immigrant detention center operator, with more than 92,000 prison and immigrant detention "beds" in 20 states and the District of Columbia, reported $1.7 billion in gross revenue last year. This revenue is derived almost exclusively from tax payer-funded government (county, state, federal) contracts through which the corporation is paid per-diem, per-prisoner rates for the warehousing of prisoners and immigrant detainees.
