One year I couldn't go home for Thanksgiving and didn't realize that the grocery store would be closed so wound up having to eat at Boston Market by myself. It was the saddest Thanksgiving ever.

That is sad! Was Boston Market the only place that was open?

i mean, i definitely ate at all these joints and worked at a few too! I think i did a year at The Cooker and definitely a year at an Applebee's.
The thing is that once you eat and work there and then move to a place where they're not your only option, you develop a deep abiding dislike of them as institutions and places to eat. It's not "Oh these yokels with their underdefined tastebuds"; it's "why in god's name would you go there when there's literally a thousand different options in walking distance"

PF Chang's is classic "somebody at the office has a birthday let's do lunch" place.

Loved Chi Chi's as a kid, but c'mon it was pretty gross

applebees is not overpriced! check it- two entrees and an appetizer for $20. sure the entrees consist entirely of celery but what are you going to do?

Probably mentioned this before elsewhere, but I used to work with a dude who had been to nearly every Rainforest Cafe. He and his wife would plan trips that coincided with locations. They even went to one in London.

The last time I ate at a Hard Rock Cafe it was for a work-related event -- I think I ended up eating something like $50 worth of food because I was pregnant and I would eat constantly no matter how bad the food was.

I ate at a Hard Rock Cafe in Cancun once. We later went to Senor Frogs. It was not a good vacation.

Five years ago, I went on a family trip to Hawaii. After we were all checked in at our hotel on Waikiki, my folks, who know better and normally would never do this, and who had arrived a couple of days beforehand, said, "Hey we found this really great place for lunch." So we walked over a few blocks and arrived at...a Yard House. As for Claim Jumper itself, I think it's a brilliant American success story -- third generation Bulgarian immigrant cannily sizes up the dumb-ass white people of Orange County and thereabouts and sells them an idiotic over the top cowboy/Western-themed restaurant with huge portions, sells out to Landry's a couple of years ago for a mint. I salute his perspicacity when it comes to OC.
