FORTUNE -- He's been called "bonehead," "Dumbfellas" and the "less-than-master-mind" behind the theft of 3,600 iPad minis Monday night from the JFK cargo building that was the site of the 1978 Lufthansa heist featured in "Goodfellas."
Court papers filed Friday in Brooklyn show that one Renel Rene Richardson has been arrested by the FBI and charged with acting as the lookout for a pair of accomplices as they allegedly forklifted two pallets containing 1,800 iPad minis each into a waiting tractor-trailer.
The FBI was reportedly led to Richardson after co-workers told Port Authority detectives that he had made suspicious inquiries about when the iPads were due to arrive and where a forklift might be found.

Caught myself looking at ebay for junk to further upgrade my old-ass Mac Pro I got used. Dumbest hobby ever, but I have the suspicion if I put the fastest possible processors in it, it'd be comparable with a late-model iMac.

xpost -- I was strongly thinking about it but the cost won't come through in this case (both purchases are gifts from another, and I'm mindful of their own budget). Seems like it would be a great idea for sure -- maybe next time.

Woot! had a new 11.6" Dual-Core i5 MacBook Air for $760 and I just keep staring at the sold-out page hoping it will stop being true.

My 15" rMBP arrived! It's great, although I haven't got very far with configuring it yet, and I've already discovered that Firefox isn't retina updated (at least out of the box).

Thanks for the advice about this machine - 15" was definitely the way (for me) to go. Nightly build of firefox is retina enabled, everything else works fine, I've got the machine set up just the way I like it and I'm very impressed. Not sure if the SSD is better than the ones in my iMac and 2010 mbp, or just that the machine is only a few days old, but it's running much more smoothly and quickly than either of them.

Next step is to reformat the 2010 mbp and see if it behaves itself better - it has a tendency to get very hot and slow while doing very little, which doesn't seem right.

I wiped and reinstalled my 2011 mbp recently and it feels a lot less crusty to me. Though it probably had more to do with going from 4gb of ram to 16 which might have been the best $75 I've spent in a while.

yes, I guess my old machine is 4gb and this is 16gb. Otoh my 11" mba is also 4gb, I think, and is faster than the mbp, so it's probably not just that.

Ok im a complete noob when it comes to hardware but how does one upgrade the ram of a Mbp? I've got a 2009 model that's really struggling these days

planning to get a new laptop in january. if i wanted to be able to keep using music-making software on my computer (mainly reason), i'd probably want a macbook pro over a macbook air, right?

It occurred to me that the "humbling" thing might have sounded like I was humbled by the work of wonder that is a Mac. No. Rather, I feel dumb trynna use this thing. Like my boss trying to open her copy of Microsoft so it will download a USB from the Adobe.

I am now installing iTunes 11. People have warned me to back up 10.7, but to be honest it's reached a point where I feel it can't be any worse. And this, about something that was once my favourite piece of software.

preintel mac i own can't install itunes 11, and ios 6 will not sync with anything prior to itunes 11, so basically i cant put any music on my iphone using my computer. fuck you mac.

Yeah, only seems available through App Store Software Update at the moment.

One really basic thing that I can now do easily that drove me up the wall before: switch from playing a song to playing the album it comes from (in order).

when you want to listen to something you have to click on the 3D avatar of a record store clerk who will retrieve the record from the wall and put it on a realistic looking 3D turntable

you must then guide the tonearm with your mouse and put it on the record where you want it to start

You get extra points if you tear the shrinkwrap off the record only at the opening buy rubbing it against your jeans. In the computer.

just switch back to "songs" view instead of artists or albums and it looks like good old iTunes 10.

Nice. I switched to Songs, but my playlist is still playing. Old iTunes would just figure you don't want to hear that playlist anymore.

I hate itunes so I figured it couldn't get any worse and upgraded. nothing appears broken... yet...

I just upgraded my work computer out of curiosity even though I spend about 95% of my time using Spotify

There's a command-line setting that updates the iTunes album rating to the Pitchfork rating number and then alert you if you try to listen to anything rated lower than 5 (or whatever threshold you want)

I use it to fix mp3 tags and backup my iphone/ipad, that's about it
