You could be the ILX lawyer as we engage in corporate takeovers.

Ken should go to the Landsdowne to follow in my holy footsteps.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 10:45 (eighteen years ago) link

having long hair does not make you jesus ned.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 11:31 (eighteen years ago) link

You need a beard too!

Onimo (GerryNemo), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 11:33 (eighteen years ago) link

Jesus, Ned.

Mädchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 11:36 (eighteen years ago) link

my lawyer advises me not to make a joke about all the beer in the lansdowne mysteriously turning into water.

not because it would be libellous; just unfunny.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 11:39 (eighteen years ago) link

Visions all, if somehow inappropriate.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 11:40 (eighteen years ago) link

oh no beer turning into water doesn't sound good :(

i hope they serve big portions of bread and fish anyway

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 11:41 (eighteen years ago) link

Couldn't someone have arranged for a miracle last Wednesday when I was in there watching the Artmedia Bratislava debacle? Like turning Mo Camara into a footballer or something?

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 11:46 (eighteen years ago) link

mo camera mo' problem

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 11:47 (eighteen years ago) link

I am around Thursday night, though I am still fucking sick and pretty miserable just in time for my holiday : ( Nonetheless I'd love to see people Thursday night, providing I'm not feeling extremely bad, I'm around in the day too pretty much and will probably go record shopping.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 11:53 (eighteen years ago) link

Tonight's prediction: Celtic 14 Artmedia 10.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 11:56 (eighteen years ago) link

Where were you when the puns were flying on this thread - UEFA Champions League 05/06, this is the thread for ?

(xpost to Ken)

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 11:58 (eighteen years ago) link

Ronan, unless you are at Glasgow Airport at six in the morning on Thursday, it is unlikely that I will see you :(

Ally, I hate you. (though that is the most likely prediction I have heard so far)

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 12:12 (eighteen years ago) link

rats' cocks, this thursday-night thing sounds fun but now i don't think i'm going to be able to make it either. jism. what exactly is the plan: food and then beer later?

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 12:32 (eighteen years ago) link

By Thursday I will be ready to go out on the razz. Oh yeah.

Mädchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 14:04 (eighteen years ago) link

Just as I leave the country. I will miss Cathy's birthday, and Ronan. I will be back in time for Ken though, oh yes.

I like how Glasgow has got a whole lot more social though, recently.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 14:06 (eighteen years ago) link

lucy you'll save some razzage for a week on saturday i hope

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 14:11 (eighteen years ago) link

Last night we tried to try the Garage. The bouncers took one look at us and said "you don't look like regulars, sorry". Then proceeded to ID a bunch of large-breasted 15 year olds and let them all in. bastards.

Instead we went to Blanket and danced to Huey Lewis and the News, Phil Oakey & Giorgio Moroder, and 5ive. It was much fun.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 14:33 (eighteen years ago) link

aw no my breasts aren't very big :(

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 14:34 (eighteen years ago) link

The Garage is rubbish anyway. But it was Monday, it was someone's birthday, we were drunk. Blanket on the other hand was excellent. Chesney Hawkes! Whitney Houston! The Killers! Franz Ferdinand! Salt'n'Pepa! Technotronic! Kaiser Chiefs! MC Hammer!

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 14:37 (eighteen years ago) link

hehe. well i like MC hammer! \o/ |o_ |p/

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 14:39 (eighteen years ago) link

You went out on a MONDAY?

And here I thought you were old.

Sorry.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 15:24 (eighteen years ago) link

stet wore a suit
Yes, because I heartily support the royals. Without them I don't get to be Lord Stet of McSub and bank at Coutts.

Working on thursday, more's the plums, but should be out after.

stet (stet), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 16:04 (eighteen years ago) link

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 20:02 (eighteen years ago) link

I was talking about butteries, elsewhere. They are great, but not the ones from Tesco. Go to Aberdeen and get a real one.

I feel old today, Ally. I only went out on a Monday because I don't have to go to work for a fortnight.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 21:05 (eighteen years ago) link

i hate butteries
i didn't think anytone got rejected by the garage bouncers!
is friday happening or non?

dahlin (dahlin), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 22:12 (eighteen years ago) link

I think three blokes the wrong side of thirty (the mister, his mate Ryan who was out with us on Saturday, one of Ryan's mates) in denim jackets, rubbish clothes and brandishing fearsome beerguts, together with the least glamorous female club-goer in the world (me) are not the desired clientele for a "young" and "happening" place like the Garage.

I don't care as the Garage is rubbish anyway. Grumble. And I bet I couldn't have danced to "Together in Electric Dreams" in there.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 22:16 (eighteen years ago) link

or electric youth. ah, sweet debbie gibson

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 14:30 (eighteen years ago) link

I'm sorry I put you off going to the Konaki on Friday. Look what you're missing.

Has anyone booked the table yet?

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 21:01 (eighteen years ago) link

I am glad we are not going for Greek Party Night, it would only distract from Cathy Party Night. I rang up to ask if I could book a table for up to fifteen people and Mr. Konaki said "Fifteen, wow! Fantastic!" in an amazed voice like they'd never had that many people even in the restaurant before. I really love the Konaki. I have to ring tomorrow afternoon to say how many will actually be coming...it looks like 12 or possibly 13 at the moment.

When I got home just now, there was an exciting package waiting for me. And sure enough, it was my birthday present to myself, via Amazon. It is the first volume of Alan Clark's diaries. I got it for 1p! (+P&P). What a great week.

Cathy (Cathy), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 21:23 (eighteen years ago) link

I wish I was coming. Have a lovely night Cathy.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 21:26 (eighteen years ago) link

mr konaki and i once had a conversation - in greek! wahay!
pressies! wahay!

dahlin (dahlin), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 21:31 (eighteen years ago) link

(x-post ... how did i know it'd be dahlin? :)

indeed. have a top time, cathy ... if there are any advance pub plans for later, post 'em here, although i'm 99% sure i won't be able to make it. i shall buy you a birthday drink at the next FAP, tho'. yay for leos :)

and ailsa: you two have a top holiday! bring us back a stuffed donkey and a sombrero.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 21:34 (eighteen years ago) link

(because i RAWK? and live to make your life difficult?)

dahlin (dahlin), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 21:40 (eighteen years ago) link

I am sorry that you can't come, ailsa, and dahlin, and grimly. See you at my 21st!
I will think about where would be good to go to afterwards...not stereo! Maybe the goat. Maybe one of those weird celticky pubs around there. I can say for sure that we will not be going to Ashton Lane. Perhaps we will walk up Sauchiehall St and go to Stavka. I think I might really want to go to Stavka, actually. I like the little cocktail bar at the top. And it is big enough for lots of people. But every time I suggest going there people laugh at me...

Cathy (Cathy), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 22:16 (eighteen years ago) link

Are you out of your tiny mind?

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 22:18 (eighteen years ago) link

N., are you Alvin Stardust in disguise?

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 4 August 2005 08:03 (eighteen years ago) link

There is no disguise involved.
