^^^ the point abt "you don't see high-gloss reflection w/drop shadows and textures in print" is a good one.

gotta say tho I have decided that Ikea's corporate identity switch to Verdana was an inspired move. Futura was too far on the "aspirational" end of the scale. Verdana may be an odd choice but it's a pretty good one when you're at the store seeing it in context.

the first sentence of this interview of marco on the brooks report reads like it was written by a 12 year old:

One thing that has really been on my mind lately is how publishing is changing.

☕ (diamonddave85), Monday, 25 February 2013 22:51 (seven years ago) link

In conclusion, publishing is in a time of great change.

Ever since the beginning of time, man has wondered about how publishing is changing.

乒乓, Monday, 25 February 2013 23:07 (seven years ago) link

Another thing I thought was interesting about publishing was how it is changing.

my god i only have 2 useless beyblade (silby), Monday, 25 February 2013 23:08 (seven years ago) link

ha. sentence 2:

Many think it is a bit crazy that I went with a paywall, but even more crazy is that I was thinking of shutting down the site as it is and doing a periodical on the iPad instead (cooler heads prevailed).

i think it's crazy you expect people to pay for sentences written like this, yes.

lag∞n, Wednesday, 3 April 2013 16:06 (seven years ago) link

i'm down with the kind of conservatism that avoids sequels but that means no iphone 5s, 6 etc...

Philip Nunez, Wednesday, 3 April 2013 16:07 (seven years ago) link

Gruber spends way too much time calling out people who say dumb shit about apple, not enough time rumor-mongering.

my god i only have 2 useless beyblade (silby), Wednesday, 3 April 2013 17:44 (seven years ago) link

i still read him all the time he is horrible but there are lots of good links on there and he even writes good stuff occasionally and i even like the claim chowder because im into predictions and its fun to see old ones

lag∞n, Wednesday, 3 April 2013 18:53 (seven years ago) link

zero dark (s1ocki), Wednesday, 3 April 2013 20:36 (seven years ago) link

See also: MG Siegler.

The Great Forgiver (dandydonweiner), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 11:55 (seven years ago) link

siegler is so much worse. particularly since he's a VC and has a vested interest in all the shit he writes about

zero dark (s1ocki), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 13:06 (seven years ago) link

MG Siegler @parislemon 4m
The stock market is a game. And if you don't realize that, you're sadly in the group being gamed.

is it a blink182 refernce? this world of micro online mac celebrities seems completely divorced from the world of micro flesh mac celebrities.
