that sounds like a pretty good job Martin. I'll be doing web design for the university here. I didn't plan on doing that again but this job is pretty laid-back and very well paid so I'm gladly taking it.

owning a home is quite cool. I feel like it's another pet or part of our family. our little house has feelings mang!

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Monday, 10 April 2006 14:30 (eighteen years ago) link

I am doing well myself. It will be in the 60s all week here in Chicago, which is A-MA-ZING. I spend most of my time outside of work doing band stuff. We had a fun show this past weekend with another ILX band called the Sharks (gbx is in that one). Tonight we're reviewing our new cd and the artwork before it gets sent out for duplication. Exciting! Nick and I are well and full of twee love for each other (ok, I'll only say that for myself as to not embarass him). What else? I continue to be broke as a joke, but happy.

Sarah Madkitten McLusky (coco), Monday, 10 April 2006 14:31 (eighteen years ago) link

I am generally happy, though I miss my cats in Seattle. They are still with Jen and she and I aren't really getting along as I'd hoped. But oh well... Hopefully that will change someday.

martin m. (mushrush), Monday, 10 April 2006 14:33 (eighteen years ago) link

sorry. :(

Hi sarah!

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Monday, 10 April 2006 14:50 (eighteen years ago) link

Well, you know how it is.

Also, Sarah, I put a F@ke F1ct10ns song on a mix I made for someone recently. So yay!

I will hopefully be done with my album by the end of June!

martin m. (mushrush), Monday, 10 April 2006 14:56 (eighteen years ago) link

Things are okay here.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 10 April 2006 15:33 (eighteen years ago) link

I bought everything I need (except SKILLZ) to start making radio docs! My first one: MY ROOT CANAL.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 10 April 2006 15:34 (eighteen years ago) link

My life is so exciting that I had TWO kinds of fondue for dinner last night. FON-FUCKING-DUE, people!

M. White (Miguelito), Monday, 10 April 2006 15:53 (eighteen years ago) link

Yum. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 10 April 2006 15:54 (eighteen years ago) link

chocolate and cheese?

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Monday, 10 April 2006 15:54 (eighteen years ago) link

I had a root canal last summer, Huk - it wasn't bad at all. Sure, you have to keep your mouth open for a long time, and afterwards it feels sort of like someone punched you in the jaw, but it goes away pretty quickly.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 10 April 2006 15:56 (eighteen years ago) link

anticipated worst part of the root canal: it might be performed by a girl I had a big sincere crush on at 15.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 10 April 2006 15:58 (eighteen years ago) link

chocolate and cheese?

OK, three kinds. Cheddar, emmenthal, and then chocolate. Our nighbors are crazy foodies and they invited my gf, three of our friends and myself at the last minute last night. How do you say no to fondue? I haven't had it in like, ten years.

Huk, maybe after she's been fiddling about in your mouth for a while, she'll realize that she loves you and needs to protect you your teeth.

M. White (Miguelito), Monday, 10 April 2006 16:04 (eighteen years ago) link

anticipated worst part of the root canal: it might be performed by a girl I had a big sincere crush on at 15.

Can I steal this scenario for my next screenplay?

ps I'm completely serious.

martin m. (mushrush), Monday, 10 April 2006 16:08 (eighteen years ago) link

"So, Huk, it's a simple choice between pain and relief. Is it safe?"

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 10 April 2006 16:09 (eighteen years ago) link

Also, what is an insincere crush?

martin m. (mushrush), Monday, 10 April 2006 16:21 (eighteen years ago) link

insincere crush = lust
sincere crush = lust plus

also, wtf, you can have it, but I'm using it too, but I trust that, y'know, i'm too lazy to actually get around to writing anything.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 10 April 2006 16:45 (eighteen years ago) link

Hm. I always just thought that crushes were by definition sincere. By which I mean, it's just a crush and not really love so it's a "sincere crush" because that's largely harmless anyway.

Shows you what kinda romantic I am. The kind who can't really articulate a concept when he needs to be clear.

Also I have a sincere crush at the moment which makes the romantic in me even more able to stifle my ability to form a complete thought or

martin m. (mushrush), Monday, 10 April 2006 16:57 (eighteen years ago) link

I miss new crushes.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 10 April 2006 17:15 (eighteen years ago) link

This is not a new crush. It is on an ex.

Long story.

martin m. (mushrush), Monday, 10 April 2006 17:16 (eighteen years ago) link

i can't think of the last time someone crushed on me? i guess being semi-married and retired does that.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Monday, 10 April 2006 17:16 (eighteen years ago) link

great pictures m.white!

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 10 April 2006 17:17 (eighteen years ago) link

I can't either, Sam. Such is the price of getting older and having a kid, I guess.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 10 April 2006 17:17 (eighteen years ago) link

luna, you know half the internet crushes on you. but i guess that doesn't count.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Monday, 10 April 2006 17:18 (eighteen years ago) link

Earnest? I mean, at 15, I really, really admired her and just wanted to be around her, she made me laugh and seemed genuinely interested in stuff I had to say, and didn't seem to be, y'know, putting on her badass like every other girl I knew when I was 15.
I don't think I've seen or spoken to her since, and I don't remember why I stopped hanging out with her. But I'm 94% sure I never made a pass at her, because, like, THAT'S HOW SINCERE MY CRUSH WAS.
So I probably stopped seeing her when I started hanging around with people who had their badass on all the time and whatever.
See, but when we were 15, we were, like, peers. We were 15. End of story. Now, she's a dentist and I'm a failed (failing) writer with no dental insurance and really bad teeth.

xxxxxxxpost

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 10 April 2006 17:19 (eighteen years ago) link

The only new crushes I get are four legged and they just want me for my ability to open pet food containers.

M. White (Miguelito), Monday, 10 April 2006 17:20 (eighteen years ago) link

yeah i have a thirteen-year love affair going like that but he only wants to sleep on my face at night and then stand on my chest and yell in the morning.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Monday, 10 April 2006 17:22 (eighteen years ago) link

Not four-legged, then.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 10 April 2006 17:24 (eighteen years ago) link

Wow, Sam, that's exactly what our 16 year old cat does to my gf.

M. White (Miguelito), Monday, 10 April 2006 17:25 (eighteen years ago) link

Sam if it makes you feel any better I probably have a crush on you.

martin m. (mushrush), Monday, 10 April 2006 17:27 (eighteen years ago) link

No, they really don't, and you know, I wish people would stop saying that. I'm just a girl like the rest of y'all.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 10 April 2006 17:28 (eighteen years ago) link

luna see post above. ;)

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Monday, 10 April 2006 17:55 (eighteen years ago) link

So we're talking about crushes, eh? Silly little things, escapist fare. To me, anyway. I've completely given up on crushes, though mild flirtations are still in the picture. Speaking of, I have managed to go beyond a brief flirtatious period with this one boy and am actually beginning to nurture a good friendship with him!! This is the first friendship I've had with a heterosexual male in my life. Sad but true. I have no expectations of this friendship actually leading anywhere (boys don't like girls like me, at least in that way), but I'm more than happy to just have this friendship going in the first place.

Normally at this time I'd be sitting down to eat dinner, but I've just now put some chicken thighs to roast in the oven to eat along with some brown rice and a salad, so I've got some time to kill on the computer. Ta-da.

See Me, Repeat Me (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 10 April 2006 22:33 (eighteen years ago) link

'ola Dee! Glad to hear of new friendships in your life though I wanna smack you for your subtle self-put-downs. ;)

luna, I hope did not offend thee.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Monday, 10 April 2006 22:58 (eighteen years ago) link

Working from hom is the toughest thing in the world on days when you're feeling a bit lazy or distracted by other stuff.

I am seriously considering banging on me drum all day, because I totally don't wanna work.

martin m. (mushrush), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 15:56 (eighteen years ago) link

Please tell me that's not a euphemism.

M. White (Miguelito), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 16:08 (eighteen years ago) link

Oh, you love it.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 16:08 (eighteen years ago) link

there's no way i could work from home. i'm very undiscplined.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 16:09 (eighteen years ago) link

I know it's not the same, but working at home is not really helping my thesis get written... I've spent all day today either working sudoku puzzles or reading about other people's old house renovations.

nice tiling! Also like the color in your bedroom.

sgs (sgs), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 16:28 (eighteen years ago) link

Yeah, Sam, it looks great.

M. White (Miguelito), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 16:29 (eighteen years ago) link

thanks. man painting the bedroom sucked. never paint red!!

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 17:05 (eighteen years ago) link

Please tell me that's not a euphemism.

Of course it'a a "euphemism" for one of my "hobbies." It's also a not-very-obtuse "song reference."

Heh heh. Ahem.

there's no way i could work from home. i'm very undiscplined.

Well, I have been working from home off and on for about 6 years now, though this time around is the first in 1 or 2. I've never felt very disciplined, but apparently I am well enough to keep this job! I think I have a tendency to only work in two modes... Really really efficient and really really lazy. In the end they balance each other out. The only trick is forcing myself to be one of them on days where the other isn't warranted or possible.

martin m. (mushrush), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 17:08 (eighteen years ago) link

No Sam, 'course not.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 22:47 (eighteen years ago) link

And I have to admit, I'd rather have stayed home banging on the drum today, too.

That is my new favorite euphemism.

"What are you doing tonight?"

"Oh, gonna go home and kick back, bang on the drum, you know..."

"Oh, you play the drums?"

"Nope."

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 22:54 (eighteen years ago) link

So, for the record, it's almost 5:00 here now, and in fact I did not work much at all.

martin m. (mushrush), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 22:54 (eighteen years ago) link

Me either. We win!

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 23:06 (eighteen years ago) link

I'm feeling down today for no reason I can pinpoint. I haven't had any blue moods in weeks and weeks. I also had fallen off taking my anti-depressants regularly and have just now restarted. a coincidence?

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 23:33 (eighteen years ago) link

Phoenix, are we allowed to know who you are/were? Sorry to pry!

Earwig oh! (Mark C), Thursday, 10 August 2006 09:06 (seventeen years ago) link

I would say it's quite guessable :)

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 10 August 2006 09:25 (seventeen years ago) link

Yes but I always get guesses wrong, then I look foolish. Archie, maybe you can AIM me?

Earwig oh! (Mark C), Thursday, 10 August 2006 10:27 (seventeen years ago) link

Is it not Dee?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 10 August 2006 10:37 (seventeen years ago) link

I am way too predictable.

Anyway, enough about me -- how about you guys? What's going on with you?

M. White, that video was hilarious. Taking into consideration its entertainment factor, necessary for our gray Thursdays, it was apropos of EVERYTHING.

Phoenix Dancing (krushsister), Thursday, 10 August 2006 21:38 (seventeen years ago) link

Hey Dee! (This is Sam. I locked myself out of ILx this week and had to start over.)

My mother's back in the hospital. They let her out last Sat. and then Mon. she had to go back. For one day we thought she had lung cancer until they said "just kidding! that wasn't a tumor." Gee, thanks. They still can't figure out what's wrong with her lungs though.

My mom is on all manner of medicines for all kind of ails. But it's become obvious to us that there is a problem with how she uses her pain medication (OxyC0tin for one). After consulting with other family members, yesterday I called her doctor.

I shared our concerns with her and gave her some examples of the misuse. She said she would "confront" her about it and get the pain mgmt. specialist to look her over and consult.

I tremble. My mom's going to think either my aunt or me started this and then we will be sent to Siberia. Oh well, it needed to be done.

Handmaiden of Hip Hop (Molly Jones), Friday, 11 August 2006 12:40 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm so sorry to hear this, Sam. How much pain is she in?

M. White (Miguelito), Friday, 11 August 2006 13:12 (seventeen years ago) link

who knows. I think once you become physically addicted to stuff like that it's hard to separate the original pain from the withdrawl pain. I don't know. Right now she's in a lot of pain b/c she's all wired up and getting prodded and scanned.

It just felt weird doing that.

Handmaiden of Hip Hop (Molly Jones), Friday, 11 August 2006 13:40 (seventeen years ago) link

Pain management is hard, especially when one's dealing with stuff as addictive as Oxy. It also has a non-negligeable effect of one's system that aggravate underlying ills. My sympathies go out to you and your family.
