Black Ice (contains OutKast guests) is my favorite GM song.

occassionally listed as "Sky High"

Now this isn't a dis at all on the Goodie Mob, but just something funny.

I keep thinking about what Steve Harvey said in Original Kings of Comedy about everybody on the stage having a mic ("40 MOTHERFUCKING PEOPLE!") and how nobody can understand what anybody is saying ("SIGAMUMAWAMAMAKIA! SIGAMUAMA YEA YEA YEA BOY!").

i saw Goodie Mob on Apollo once (hosted by ....Steve Harvey!) and they all had mics and it was just one of the funniest things I ever saw cuz none of it was intelligible. I think whoever was doing the sound was high that night.

AND THEY GOT EVERYBODY ON THEIR HANDS AND KNEES
AND THEY AIN'T GONNA LEAVE UNTIL THEY FIND THEM KIS

CIGARETTES GIVES YOU CANCER
WOOOWOOS MAKE YOU DUMB

Big Gipp's solo album is fun. The "Steppin' Out" single with the "Billie Jean" guitar and "got myself some cologne that I'm 'a skeet skeet skeet skeet skeet skeet on" is great, too. The video (not on youtube, unfort.) has the greatest outlandish DF outfit ever, a blue jumpsuit with giant yellow fuzzy things all over it. Has anyone heard his album with Ali?

this is on point, i got that 'steppin out' 12" for like 99 cents at some store awhile back and it stays on repeat.

deej, Monday, 10 December 2007 06:59 (sixteen years ago) link

i remember the video too from when it first dropped, can't believe its not on youtube!

deej, Monday, 10 December 2007 07:00 (sixteen years ago) link

didn't involve a house party or something?

J0rdan S., Monday, 10 December 2007 07:03 (sixteen years ago) link

One Monkey Don't Stop No Show is a lot better than you might think. The beats are really nice - dark, menacing. Actually, the Lumberjacks album is good too.

Black Ice is a terrific tune, particularly Andre's verse.

chap, Monday, 21 January 2008 17:15 (sixteen years ago) link

I looooooooove me some classic Outkast. Aquemini to me was their crowning achievement, but I also love Southernplayalistic, ATLiens, and yes even Stankonia.

i mean i know it's bo jackson but wtf, dude is acting like he's riding for blueprint 2.1 or something

J0rdan S., Monday, 21 January 2008 17:23 (sixteen years ago) link

i dunno man stankonia is pretty bad

and what, Monday, 21 January 2008 17:23 (sixteen years ago) link

we love deez hoez is classic but the rest is weak

and what, Monday, 21 January 2008 17:25 (sixteen years ago) link

^^^yeah pretty spotty imo

You're crazy, Stankonia's great.

chap, Monday, 21 January 2008 17:26 (sixteen years ago) link

otoh ATLiens is like Rush's "Working Man". They can do whatever horseshit they want from here on out and they still get lifetime classic pass.

will, Monday, 21 January 2008 17:27 (sixteen years ago) link

i mean obv it's long as fuck and you could probably chop half off but besides the classic singles i count 5-6 pretty solid album tracks

J0rdan S., Monday, 21 January 2008 17:27 (sixteen years ago) link

no coincidence that two of the three good songs on stankonia are organized noize

and what, Monday, 21 January 2008 17:27 (sixteen years ago) link

snappin & trappin is good

and what, Monday, 21 January 2008 17:28 (sixteen years ago) link

and anyway what i really meant was that his language was weird bcuz he was acting as if he was standing up for some universally maligned album

J0rdan S., Monday, 21 January 2008 17:28 (sixteen years ago) link

naw i feel u southernplayalistic gets ignored most of the time & its the dopest one

and what, Monday, 21 January 2008 17:31 (sixteen years ago) link

stankonia is only good for when its the only rap cd in a heavy metal jukebox & you wanna hear we love deez hoez

and what, Monday, 21 January 2008 17:31 (sixteen years ago) link

i hope that big boi album comes out this year

J0rdan S., Monday, 21 January 2008 17:33 (sixteen years ago) link

hahahaha (we luv deez hoez)

Big Boi suggesting he may consider running for the job of Mayor of Atlanta in the future.

big boi vs clark howard would be o_O

and what, Monday, 21 January 2008 17:39 (sixteen years ago) link

i don't think big boi spit a bad verse in 07

J0rdan S., Monday, 21 January 2008 17:48 (sixteen years ago) link

also his ballet

J0rdan S., Monday, 21 January 2008 17:48 (sixteen years ago) link

I kinda with he was actually performing the ballet himself. It really wouldn't be a stretch for Andre but Big Boi would be a sight.

matt2, Monday, 21 January 2008 18:38 (sixteen years ago) link

That's "I kinda wiSh..."

matt2, Monday, 21 January 2008 18:39 (sixteen years ago) link

i wonder if he'll ever do a collabo w.kate bush

M@tt He1ges0n, Monday, 21 January 2008 18:44 (sixteen years ago) link

Andre's always banging on about wanting to collaborate with Squarepusher.

i mean i know it's bo jackson but wtf, dude is acting like he's riding for blueprint 2.1 or something

I dunno dude, in some corners it's not a well liked albums, in others it's loved. Thought I'd cover my bases.

I really like it a lot for the record, though I've never really been into "So fresh so clean"

my fav is Gasoline Dreams

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 01:59 (sixteen years ago) link

Boy, every time I get to a thread it's so long I could never possibly read it all and still get to work on time.

Anyhoo, I'll vote Goodie Mob based on the fact that I've just never liked Outkast. Argue what you want, I just never felt it. My loss, probably.

RabiesAngentleman, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 02:06 (sixteen years ago) link

i like stankonia, incl 'so fresh so clean'
suffers from overplayedness but still good

deej, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 02:12 (sixteen years ago) link

nine months pass...

woke up this morning from a dream where i was doing some very important mystical rite involving climbing a tree and Goodie Mob were there and "Black Ice" was playing. Of course "Black Ice" had different lyrics and maybe a different beat in my dream but it was "Black Ice."
