Why is J0rdan so bad and hated?

BECAUSE.

the new song is wacky as fuck but "i don't care" was actually just wack, so nbd

lol i love "i don't care" albeit it took me hearing it with the rest of the record to love it

what a strange track. like a widescrean, blue-tinted post-Michael Bay Maroon 5 take on a Linkin Park emo-step breakdown with ironic Metal/Queen operatics thrown on top

<i>pattern with first singles from fall out boy records is:

2) *blasts fourteen times in a row anyway*

Cautiously optimistic for the album - played the ever-loving crap out of the last three, still spin them on occasion, haven't liked Patrick Stump's solo stuff as much as I've wanted to.

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 5 February 2013 04:34 (five years ago) Permalink

they played tons of stuff from cork tree and prior... dipped into the last two albums only intermittently and played only the single off the new album. was a very conscious 'back to basics'/real heads know the deal kinda thing i guess, but they sounded incredible. very fun show, would attend secret fall out boy show at 375 cap venue again.

d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 5 February 2013 05:27 (five years ago) Permalink

they did play all the singles tho, so that was cool. they actually played a fair amount of stuff from 'infinity on high' too

d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 5 February 2013 05:27 (five years ago) Permalink

also pete was wearing a shirt that said "i want you to chase me like the beatles and get me high like bob marley" which i believe was something he tweeted and then made into a shirt lolz https://twitter.com/petewentz/status/223254990897160192

;_;

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 5 February 2013 05:44 (five years ago) Permalink

i didn't get a chance to read the news stories today so this may be old news but pete said that patrick called him like 18 months ago to write songs but what they came up with didn't "feel right" or whatever. then patrick called him again a few months ago and they got back at it and i guess that's where this album is coming from.

d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 5 February 2013 06:13 (five years ago) Permalink

also patrick was looking fine

d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 5 February 2013 06:23 (five years ago) Permalink

this song sucks

:C (crüt), Tuesday, 5 February 2013 12:01 (five years ago) Permalink

Digging the new song. It's really weird, but I've been compelled to listen a number of times.

Also, the Fall out Boy tag on tumblr is filled with A WHOLE LOT OF CAPS LOCK

Fatalist AmandaPalmistry (irrational), Tuesday, 5 February 2013 20:09 (five years ago) Permalink

I keep wanting this to break into some guitar shredding.

EveningStar (Sund4r), Tuesday, 5 February 2013 20:21 (five years ago) Permalink

i don't think it's a very good song but whatever

d'eejban (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 5 February 2013 20:24 (five years ago) Permalink

Maybe it's not a very well-developed song, objectively, but it sure did a great job of amplifying my personal excitement about a new album.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 5 February 2013 20:26 (five years ago) Permalink

it's a good excuse to go back and listen to my Fall Out Boy albums

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 5 February 2013 21:08 (five years ago) Permalink

I don't think it's their best, either, to be clear, although it has some interesting ideas.

idk if i'd put it like that, this song is essentially fob covering kanye's "power"

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Wednesday, 6 February 2013 16:04 (five years ago) Permalink

Yeah I was just about to say that it reminds me of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy meets Bon Jovi's It's My Life minus the presence of a piano.

MarkoP, Wednesday, 6 February 2013 16:25 (five years ago) Permalink

FOB has always been about packaging massive hooks in excoriating sonics 4 me, this new one embodies this MO perfectly imo

Ha, I've ended up playing this a lot after all.

EveningStar (Sund4r), Wednesday, 6 February 2013 23:58 (five years ago) Permalink

yeah I mean I would have been worried if this single had just sounded like a folie a deux b-side

乒乓, Thursday, 7 February 2013 02:16 (five years ago) Permalink

why is it rearranged on streaming services? i noticed a similar thing happened with 21 savage's album last year, but then it seemed like it was because of which songs were getting the most plays right off the bat to inflate full-album playthroughs. is this going to start becoming a thing?

austinb, Saturday, 20 January 2018 02:30 (eight months ago) Permalink

hmm, never mind, i found this tweet from pete.

No no. It’s a long story why it’s going to be wrong in iTunes for a few weeks- it’s just how their system ingested the songs we already put out.

it is extremely frustrating trying to tell anyone that this band is good

(audience: "well brad then they should make better music")

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Tuesday, 23 January 2018 22:30 (eight months ago) Permalink

i am totally obsessed with this record and i think it's def their best since folie, someone pls talk to me about it lol

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Saturday, 27 January 2018 23:47 (eight months ago) Permalink

I wish I liked it as much. I do think it's better than AB/AP but I kinda long for the (relatively) spacious sound of SRAR. and I still hate "Champion" and "Hold Me Tight Or Don't" a lot. and "Wilson" sounds a bit like "YOLO" to me lol

"Heaven's Gate" and "Church" make a v nice pairing and are definitely right up there with their best material

Simon H., Saturday, 27 January 2018 23:57 (eight months ago) Permalink

thinking Stump should do a devotional r&b followup to Soul Punk

Simon H., Sunday, 28 January 2018 00:07 (eight months ago) Permalink

yeah I would love him to an album of slow soul covers

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 28 January 2018 00:49 (eight months ago) Permalink

Gave into this despite actively disliking all the pre-release songs. Skipped to the first track I hadn't heard, supposed album opener Stay Frosty Royal Milk Tea (track listing still not updated on Spotify). "Are you smelling that shit? Are you smelling that shit?" I don't want to smell that shit, Patrick.
