Uncivilization

ledge, Thursday, 7 February 2013 19:15 (eleven years ago) link

Everyone knows that the poorest, least technological people in the world enjoy the cleanest, purest water sources, no matter how often their kids pee in them.

I forgive Hitler. Now I can live peacefully.

Well, harbouring anger or resentment towards a dead man over something that happened 70 years ago would probably not be very productive either. "Forgive" doesn't mean "condone" or "fail to learn from".

EveningStar (Sund4r), Thursday, 7 February 2013 21:12 (eleven years ago) link

what does "forgive" mean?

Read the Gallagher one as "The passion for destruction is also a creative passion, tool".

Moodles, Thursday, 7 February 2013 22:19 (eleven years ago) link

what does "forgive" mean?

I assumed that one of these definitions (from New Oxford was meant:

stop feeling angry or resentful towards (someone) for an offence, flaw, or mistake: I'll never forgive David for the way he treated her.

• no longer feel angry about or wish to punish (an offence, flaw, or mistake): I was willing to forgive all her faults for the sake of our friendship | [ no obj. ] : he had never found it easy to forgive and forget .

surprised at the people claiming not to understand the forgiveness one -- y'all must be some grudge-holding, resentful motherfuckers

You don't have to understand to forgive

YOU LIVE IN A GREAT, BIG, VAST WORLD THAT YOU'VE SEEN NONE PERCENT OF.

Not true fyi, I went to France once on a trip with school.

U can totally buy badman knives there.

The world doesn't have that much land mass; it's probably quite possible for someone to gaze on a couple percent of it in a lifetime with a little effort.

Just because you are bored doesn't give you license to take it out on fonts.

Salt girl advert.... yeah someone must be taking a design class right now. Kind of funny how it implies good design just stopped in 1968.

Did anyone post that one about "I'm Offended" by some ugly british guy who I've never heard of? That's possibly the worst of genre.

I don't understand his point. I see a lot of words, but there's no actual argument or reasoning in there.

space phwoar (Hurting 2), Friday, 8 February 2013 17:05 (eleven years ago) link

It might as well just say "I'm an asshole!"

If you can't smile with your mouth, smile with your eyes. If you can't smile with your eyes, smile with your words. If you can't smile with your words, smile through your touch. If you can't smile through your touch, ask God to smile through your soul.

"You know, God, you're prettier when you smile."

vacations are awesome

Mordy, Friday, 8 February 2013 18:18 (eleven years ago) link

also half the joy of vacations is planning vacations when you're bored at work ime

Mordy, Friday, 8 February 2013 18:18 (eleven years ago) link

being ~fulfilled~ every day would get boring too, surely.

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 8 February 2013 18:45 (eleven years ago) link

i think it *might* be possible to be fully happy and fulfilled but still want to, like, go hang out on a beach
