A bit like when they used a song called "Smile" to advertise a bank account called "Smile", even though the song goes on "... cause That's .. All .. that You Got Left!!!"

In spite of the track's moderate commercial success, "Being Boring" has been played regularly at concerts and is widely considered amongst the greatest, most beautiful Pet Shop Boys songs by fans. Ironically, due to various factors (including it being hard to sing), it wasn't initially performed on 1991's Performance tour;[3] leading to many fans, including Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses, complaining about its omission.

Extremely well received - in the East Coast independent hip-hop community - the record is considered influential, but ultimately failed to significantly penetrate into market demographics outside of "independent East Coast hip-hop," that is to say, Funcrusher Plus did not see much mainstream play.

Beat Street's impact was felt internationally as well as throughout the United States. In Germany, for example, movies such as Beat Street and Wild Style are credited with introducing the hip hop movement to the country. Because movies are so easily distributed over borders, part of the importance of this movie lay in its ability to influence both East and West Germany, which at the time were still divided.[3] Beat Street was of particular importance in the East, where it is said to illustrate for young people the evils of capitalism.[4] Because the film focused so heavily on the visual aspects of hip hop, such as breaking and graffiti, these aspects had the heaviest influence on the emerging German hip hop scene.[5]

It was precisely these visual aspects that helped bring hip hop culture to Germany, rather than simply a genre of music. Beat Street appeared in the German Democratic Republic at almost the same time as in the West. Dresden, the center of the Beat Street scene was geographically out of western media range, making it a perfect center to explore this genre of music. The hip hop scene for the entire public would meet at breakdancing competitions, emceeing competitions, and graffiti spraying.[6] Puerto Rican and African American breakdancing, hip hop and Latin freestyle dance sounds, and inner-city American graffiti made up what Germans knew as hip hop culture. The aftermath of Beat Street propelled events such as competitions in emceeing, break dancing, and graffiti spraying throughout Germany.[6]

From the article for "Movie Star":

Although such were the terms most immediate antecedents, the use of the term "star" to refer to "an actor, singer, etc. of exceptional celebrity" (OED, s.v. "star") can be traced as far back as the eighteenth century, when its earliest usage is cited with reference—quite appropriately—to the most famous and feted actor of the day in England, David Garrick."The little stars, who hid their diminished rays in his [Garrick's] presence," J. Warner noted in 1779, "begin to abuse him". The term soon became part of the language of the theatre, as another, slightly later citation of its use in a publication such as the Edinburgh Weekly Journal makes clear ("He had hitherto been speaking of what, in theatrical language, was called stars"). The term was first used in 1924 to coin a phrase for Rudolph Valentino; it was further used in news publications, demo reels, and print covers for the likes of Elvis Pressley, Grace Kelly, James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, and Monique Alexander. Monroe now is a very famous lady now and is successful.

The Comanche could ride faster and farther than almost anyone.[citation needed] They could do tricks on horseback that no one else could do.[citation needed] They would slide to the back or the side of the horse.[citation needed] The Spanish tried to move into Comanche territory but they could not defeat the Comanche.[citation needed] The Comanche attacked settlers, stole horses, cattle, women and children.[citation needed] They were not peaceful neighbors. Early Texans defeated the Comanche by tricking them with a white flag.[citation needed] The Comanche were forced to live on reservations[citation needed]

Critics such as Matthew Arnold endeavoured to rewrite Shelley's legacy to make him seem a lyricist and a dilettante who had no serious intellectual position and whose longer poems were not worth study. Matthew Arnold famously described Shelley as a "beautiful and ineffectual angel". This position contrasted strongly with the judgement of the previous generation who knew Shelley as a sceptic and radical. Meow

A video was made to help promote the single. It featured clips of the band playing the song live on a large, well-lit stage, interspersed with shots of a young blonde woman. Portrayed by Playboy playmate Eloise Broady, the model is visibly distressed over relationship troubles with Stanley. She vents her frustrations by throwing a wine bottle at a picture of the two of them, and sets Stanley's car on fire after dousing it with gasoline.

His personal impact, however, was twofold: his image as a warm, gentle, kind man captivated the world. This image was immediately formed when he was presented to the crowd in St. Peter's Square following his election. The warmth of his presence made him a much-loved figure before he even spoke a word. The media in particular fell under his spell. He was a skilled orator. Whereas Pope Paul VI spoke as if delivering a doctoral thesis, John Paul I produced warmth, laughter, a 'feel-good factor,' and plenty of media-friendly sound bites. [citation needed]

Contemporaries paint a portrait of an isolated person (he never married and had few intimate friends) with grandiose manners, prone to public outbursts of tears, and a fierce temper that sometimes degenerated into fist-fights. He had unusual phobias —including a fear of electricity. As he grew older, his eccentricities intensified, he became increasingly incoherent, and by 1895 he was declared insane. One of his more notable eccentricities was the founding of a hot food delivery company to prospectors in the Klondike Gold Fields. The difficult logistics of this service scared away investors and ultimately provided its downfall.

From the entry for Golden Earring:

"When the Lady Smiles" became an international hit in 1984, reaching No. 3 in Canada and becoming the band's fifth number one hit in their native country, but received a disappointing reaction in the United States. The reason for this lack of success was that the music video of the song was banned from MTV, because of nudity and a scene portraying the rape of a nun

(in the entry for author Richard Grayson)

Crime-fighting Career

Shortly after his brief tenure at Arizona State, Richard began work in a juvenile services system. He got beaten up by a number of the inmates, and he was later transfered to a Catholic orphanage. Bruce Wayne rescued Richard by hiring him as his butler. Frustrated by the lack of activism from his new guardian and the mystery still surrounding Mark Twain's killer, Richard sneaked out of Wayne Manor one evening to solve the crime on his own - only to stumble into Batman, who was also investigating the murder. When Richard returned to the circus, he was confronted by Alan Gribben's business associate, Eddie Skeevers, who nearly killed Grayson, but Richard was saved thanks to Batman's intervention. After waking up in the Batcave, he is shocked to learn that Bruce is really the Batman. They succeed in revealing Gribben's complicity, but he supposedly dies of a heart attack before his arrest. Seeing a reflection of himself in Richard; that he could temper compassion with a thirst for justice, Batman made the young man the offer of a lifetime; the chance to become his crime-fighting partner. Richard chose the name Robin, and his training began. Richard's first mission alongside the Dark Knight involved battling The Hangman in Gotham's sewers, and then Two-Face and the rest of Batman's Rogues Gallery at the Batcave. They swore an oath late that night that they would fight together against crime and corruption, never swerving from the path of righteousness. Batman had realized for the first time that he did not have to be alone in his crusade.

He gave up crime-fighting in 2003 to continue his writing career.

Frances Dean Smith was born Frances Elizabeth Dean, in San Rafael, California, on March 19, 1922. During her childhood her family moved to the East Coast, where she grew up.[1]

She married Wray Smith while living on the East Coast and had four daughters. They were eventually divorced and she returned to California in 1963.[1]
