It's a big fuck you from her. Thom Yorke's one is also shocking. It's amazing how a seasoned musician like him seemed to not have a single clue about flow and sequencing. And I haven't even talked about the mixing yet.

I used to be able to podcast these but haven't been able to for a while. Has anyone else had trouble?

Weird that Boiler Room went from being something run from the offices of Platform magazine (a terrible, terrible VICE rip-off) into this huge, gloabal thing innit?

It's the people who run it that make it the Boiler Room, not the location.

Never had time to listen to the Ame/Dixon mix last year, so thanks to everyone here reminding me about it - I listened to it twice yesterday and am an hour into it again today. Absolutely wonderful - any other mixes that it reminds anyone of?

i really like how they put the DJ in the center of the crowd too, although you do get absolute twats crowding the decks and practically piggy backing on the DJs, i don't know how patience is kept

only seen a couple of these, lutz and koolt in uruguay was an enjoyable set, some good hawaiian shirts to go along the genial sounds

i think the comparison to ted talks is otm in the sense that the aura of performing professionalism has overshadowed the premise of free-flowing idea exchange. i don't know if there was ever a similar utopian element to the boiler room concept internally but when it became a thing i remember being excited by the feeling that the floodgates of dance music, deejaying and party knowledge were about to be opened. now it is obviously just another brand riding on the social media model of participants doing the work for its benefit, not that it ever pretended to be anything else. anyway, not the kind of work i'm excited about doing at a party. just my .02.

idk techno but i found the snd one of this on youtube and it looked rather odd with those two in the middle of a room in laptop glare, especially given mark fell's prior quotes

I'm far more comfortable with an audience reacting negatively to what I do, than reacting positively. Like if I’m DJing and people start to nod their heads or move about a bit, I really find it quite unpleasant.

There are so many online mix places and great online radio stations where you can search for mixes that I don't see how any of these places will really be able to preserve their online brand or whatever. There was an interview w/ the ppl who started it that some online publication put up recently and they were talking abt focusing more on classical and jazz shows so maybe there will be more ted for other genres in the future
