Is addressing Facebook tbf, not facebook users, so he'll only be $5,000 down.

i don't get out of bed and share facebook posts for less than $50,000 anyway.

had no idea chiropractic was considered pseudoscientific quackery

the bagel is the bagel (donna rouge), Friday, 5 April 2013 18:43 (eleven years ago) link

rolfing is just a type of massage it seems pretty uncontroversial tho maybe i could see if they make outrageous claims about it benefits or something

lag∞n, Friday, 5 April 2013 18:46 (eleven years ago) link

Chiropracty is pretty controversial. The claims made for its benefits are fairly wild and the UK association is famously litigious towards people pointing that out.

Des Fusils Pour Banter (ShariVari), Friday, 5 April 2013 18:48 (eleven years ago) link

yeah I think the talk about Rolfing is wackier than the actual practic itself

I've always thought of it in connection to infants, I remember it being kinda underground-popular

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 5 April 2013 18:51 (eleven years ago) link

The origin of chiropractic proposed the theory that all disease was based in spinal misalignment. Some lip service is still paid to this theory among chiropractors, but most of them have moved well beyond it, so that they would never attempt to treat cancer or stroke by spinal adjustment, but they would send the patient on to a regular MD, assuming a patient were so foolish as to consult a chiropractor for these.

Aimless, Friday, 5 April 2013 18:53 (eleven years ago) link

chiros are super common in Australia, there wasn't a lot of quackery-perception that I remember. they were almost as common as going to the doctor. but everyone always waved them off about coming back for regular 'adjustments' as like kind of a scam, and ppl would just go to them whenever they screwed up their back/neck etc because it was a bit more rigorous than a massage

like when they yank on your foot and something pops way up in your back, it's kind of awesome

This has some background on one of the UK incidents.
