jed_ (jed), Saturday, 27 August 2005 17:09 (eighteen years ago) link

I am eating indonesian food

then to the grand ole opry

then there is a party, in a couple of hours

cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 27 August 2005 17:13 (eighteen years ago) link

Will your party still be raging on at 6 in the morning?

marianna lcl (marianna lcl), Saturday, 27 August 2005 17:20 (eighteen years ago) link

perhaps!!!!!!!

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 27 August 2005 17:21 (eighteen years ago) link

Do come, marianna!

I ate Korean food today, and watched cozen. Where did you get Indonesian?

Cathy (Cathy), Saturday, 27 August 2005 18:48 (eighteen years ago) link

Yeah, Marianna, come to Glasgow.

I ate Spanish food and laughed at miserable-looking Rangers fans. I ain't going to no party :(

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 27 August 2005 19:11 (eighteen years ago) link

stew beardmag, have I met you? when dot to dot played ladies night at stereo?

I know someone who knows you anyway.

-- cozen (skiplevel...), August 26th, 2005

Yes, I recognised yr picture from the thread and said hello at Dolly Mixture. Think you were rather taken aback to be such an internet celeb but there you go!
As for the someone who knows me...maybe Marceline from Diskant? And I went to uni with Dahlin' of course.

So is there a FAP on Thurs? I really should come along and meet you all properly. I'm starting a mind numbing temp job on Monday so I could do with a trip to the pub.

Stew (stew s), Saturday, 27 August 2005 19:14 (eighteen years ago) link

There is a FAP not on Thursday, but a week on Thursday, venue to be decided. (not Mono (no Guinness) or Drum and Monkey (no smoking) please?

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 27 August 2005 19:16 (eighteen years ago) link

Shit, that's the night of the Josh Pearson (troubled frontman of apocalyptic desert rockers Lift To Experience) gig at Tut's, but I can always come along for a wee while.

Stew (stew s), Saturday, 27 August 2005 20:06 (eighteen years ago) link

We could FAP downstairs in King Tuts and you could run down to drink beer when the band isn't on (or when they are on, if they are shit)

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 27 August 2005 20:07 (eighteen years ago) link

Well, that would be very nice of you, but I don't want everyone to build their night round me. It's quite nice it Tut's though if it's not too busy. I'm only go see Josh Pearson cos he's the man (and the lovely people at Hermana can set me up with a freebie, ahem, I mean press ticket) so I won't need to scoot off until 10.

Stew (stew s), Saturday, 27 August 2005 20:36 (eighteen years ago) link

phil from skeleton bob, stew

: )

cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 27 August 2005 23:50 (eighteen years ago) link

Stew, I just remember the hassle last time we tried to organise a FAP, so I thought if a pub presented itself as an easy option, then it would be a start. Also, I like Tuts if it's not busy (though it's a nightmare if it is).

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 28 August 2005 08:48 (eighteen years ago) link

Haha, I was going to be really shit when Stewbeard mentioned that and say I wanted to see him as well, but g00gling reveals he plays Bristol at the end of September so I can see him then. As you were.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Sunday, 28 August 2005 11:19 (eighteen years ago) link

Be as shit as you like, as long as you bring my LOST dvds with you.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 28 August 2005 11:32 (eighteen years ago) link

Cool, sounds like a plan. Yay, Skeleton Bob, they're a great wee band. You should check out Jode's new DJ slot at the CCA on Thursday. It's called Buckaroo and he plays lots of country and folk. Ace!

Stew (stew s), Sunday, 28 August 2005 11:35 (eighteen years ago) link

momus is in glasgow

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 28 August 2005 13:46 (eighteen years ago) link

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 28 August 2005 13:49 (eighteen years ago) link

wow!

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 28 August 2005 15:00 (eighteen years ago) link

let's all zoom to mono and noise him up.

actually: i'm just back from driving 450 miles, so ... let's not. zzz sleep etc.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Sunday, 28 August 2005 17:28 (eighteen years ago) link

I am sad to report that I will not be trying Glasgow this year. It breaks my heart, but it just wasn't meant to be. :(

Thank you for all your help, though, glasgow people!

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Sunday, 28 August 2005 20:13 (eighteen years ago) link

:(

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 28 August 2005 20:18 (eighteen years ago) link

I will make my very best effort to try it soon, though!

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Sunday, 28 August 2005 20:24 (eighteen years ago) link

I had considered going to Mono earlier today, but the thought of Momus, Stuart Braithwaite, Stephen Pastel and Isobel Campbell in one small pub was a little too much for me.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 28 August 2005 20:34 (eighteen years ago) link

: /

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 28 August 2005 20:40 (eighteen years ago) link

it was fucking amazing. well, jens was. *swoon*
momus WAS there! with an eyepatch! ha! he was on my bus. i had no idea. he left early tho.

dahlin (dahlin), Sunday, 28 August 2005 23:02 (eighteen years ago) link

cozen why are you in?

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 28 August 2005 23:18 (eighteen years ago) link

Hey Dahlin, that's the Plan B people put to bed and me about to crash. What a lovely night. Jens was indeed swoonsome musically speaking. His songs and performance really touched me: so warm, romantic and lovely. Aaaahh. Momus was indeed there but left before we plucked up the courage to say hello. Oy vey!

Stew (stew s), Monday, 29 August 2005 00:17 (eighteen years ago) link

Hey did anyone try the Pixies more in Edinburgh last night? It was pretty excellent, although I had been a bit dubious beforehand.

alext (alext), Monday, 29 August 2005 06:36 (eighteen years ago) link

my friend, fergie, did

phoned me up, during "where is my mind?", I think!

I said hello, to momus, last night.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 29 August 2005 09:24 (eighteen years ago) link

i got a text from my pal phil saying: "debas**er!!!!"

what did momus say? did he hail the might of RJG, fellow elder statesman of ILX, or did he just peer at you and do that slightly funny chin thing he does?

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Monday, 29 August 2005 09:28 (eighteen years ago) link

he said "ah, you're RJG. I think we may have crossed swords, in the past, but probably agreed about other things, too" and that we must do one of the impromptu ILXer sightings things

he was borrowing a chair, from my table

RJG (RJG), Monday, 29 August 2005 09:34 (eighteen years ago) link

so, a bit of both

RJG (RJG), Monday, 29 August 2005 09:36 (eighteen years ago) link

you had discourse

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 29 August 2005 09:47 (eighteen years ago) link

so are any of you going to DinosaurJr tonite in the end? I havenĀ“t heard anything good from their Benicassim show...

olenska (olenska), Monday, 29 August 2005 09:50 (eighteen years ago) link

I am going to go to the quiz at the liquid ship, tonight, I think

RJG (RJG), Monday, 29 August 2005 09:52 (eighteen years ago) link

I tried to blag free tickets. It didn't work. Anyway, I feel ill and have been up all night vomiting so wouldn't have been able to go anyway.

We need REPORTING BACK from the party! Did anyone pee in a corner? Did anyone turn up? (Scotstvo, I didn't get your text until Sunday morning and I don't have any credit in my phone to reply anyway, sorry).

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 29 August 2005 09:54 (eighteen years ago) link

our party?

lots of people turned up

it was quite civilised (no peeing, that I saw, at all)

RJG (RJG), Monday, 29 August 2005 09:59 (eighteen years ago) link

Yes, your party. Sorry I didn't come, I was too lazy to be bothered moving, and also talking to people. I'm glad it was good.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 29 August 2005 10:08 (eighteen years ago) link

it was civilised! there were SNACKS and plastic cups, arranged neatly on a table!
and the place was CLEAN!
except ally's room which smelled like boy. yuck

dahlin (dahlin), Monday, 29 August 2005 10:19 (eighteen years ago) link

where boy = fish

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 29 August 2005 10:21 (eighteen years ago) link

where fish = don't ask

RJG (RJG), Monday, 29 August 2005 10:27 (eighteen years ago) link

This all sounds very non-148-like (xpost - I meant about the snacks and tidiness, not the odd smells). It may have confused me. Actually I don't think I've ever been to one of your parties. I don't really *do* parties.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 29 August 2005 10:28 (eighteen years ago) link

Where don't ask = no really, don't ask.

I liked the civilisation. Luckily there was a big crazy party across the street which people who wanted that kind of thing were quite happy to go to after spending a while being civilised at ours.

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 29 August 2005 10:31 (eighteen years ago) link

148 was usually pretty tidy, for parties, and we had snacks, a few times

I think, unfortunately, people often confuse dilapidation for untidyness

RJG (RJG), Monday, 29 August 2005 10:32 (eighteen years ago) link

I think I may be guilty of that. And I really can't now recall ever having been at one of your parties, but I'm sure I must have been at at least one.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 29 August 2005 10:34 (eighteen years ago) link

I saw someone pee in a bottle at the party.

Cathy (Cathy), Monday, 29 August 2005 11:00 (eighteen years ago) link

Take that back.

Ally C (Ally C), Monday, 29 August 2005 11:03 (eighteen years ago) link

...to the shop for 20p?

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 29 August 2005 11:08 (eighteen years ago) link
