Yeah, loved that a whole lot more once we got to see the result.

ZG in general isn't as funny to me now as maybe ten years or even five years ago. Overexposure? I dunno. But he just the same things over and over at this point, sometimes funny and sometimes painful.

Does he still do standup at all? Yeah, it was kinda standard ZG shit tonight, but it also felt like he was kind of rusty.

The Mother's Day flower commercial was probably the only funny skit tonight. Kristen Wiig hosted and Vampire Weekend were the musical guests. I'm with Lex in disliking Vampire Weekend's "Diane Young" song and its gimmicky vocals. Their second number was better.

I guess the opening Benghazi panel skit with Jodi Arias had some funny moments.

I'd wager that Kate McKinnon is probably gonna be Kristin Wiig Famous one day, if not more.

I liked the korean (japanese would be more appropriate I think) ghost mom skit. Otherwise pretty underwhelming.

That was good--it was a fake Disney channel show.

The Mother's Day commercial confirmed my belief that Kate McKinnon is Julia Sweeney with better impressions.

i liked the acupuncture skit because it was really stupid and not very well executed. the only thing i really enjoy about this show these days is its ramshackle charm, how it is often barely funnier than my college's improv troupe. this is why i rarely watch it.

Even with Zach's terrible show you had the editing bit that was pretty major lolz. This episode was unfunny through and through, and worth it only for VW tunes. Wiig had some great bits, but none of them were her recurring characters.

at this point they're about the quality of the sketches from studio 60 on the sunset strip...

it seems logical to me that nbc spiked mulaney's pilot because they knew they were moving seth to fallon's spot, thus needed to promote mulaney at snl

yeah i never understood why people seem eager for Mulaney to get an on-camera gig, he doesn't really seem built for it

Sad that Hader is bailing, but if Armisen leaves (long overdue) and Sudeikis leaves (he's had one foot out the door all season) and Seth Meyers moves to his late night show, that could give the writing a fresh edge and more room for whoever remains in the cast to move around a little. Kate McKinnon is obvs going to be promoted to full cast member status next season, and Aidy Bryant and Cecily Strong are possibilites. Tim Robinson seems mostly like dead weight.

I feel like Robinson hasn't been given much of a chance to shine. Granted, I don't remember him too well from the Second City mainstage show I saw him in, but Chicago improv/sketch folks generally seem to love him.

New season is definitely going to signal a beginning of a new era!

I like Stefon as much as the next person, I guess, but what I'm really hoping for on Hader's last episode is a Herb Welch sketch.

Aidy Bryant has not done even one thing that I've liked to date, but to be fair they do give her a lot of the straight, unglamorous parts. But she doesn't do that well with them? Robinson also gets a lot of those kind of parts but I think he elevates them more than Bryant does.

If Sudeikis leaves, I will miss his dancing in the What Up With That sketches and will lament the missed opportunity for future Maine Justice sketches.

Stefon thing where they actually show you some of the crazy stuff he's been describing all these years was so lame and missing the point of the whole bit. kinda bummer that that character became Hader's SNL legacy, he was so much more than that.

He'll always be Herb Welch to me, and 100 other characters. I always find the Stefon bits funny, but I have no idea why people get obsessed with them.

When it started it seemed like such a New York joke. LIke for people who remember reading Details before it was a "men's" magazine. I thought it was hilarious but didn't think anybody would get the joke.

So is Sudekis out or what?
