yeah, now that i'm at hell i'm not sure how much further i want to go with this, too bad you can't get better healing potions, because eating candy gives you almost no HP now

Also feel like the "Frog Fractions" expansiveness/unpredictability has faded a bit, though that's enhanced it as a parody of RPGs and old-school BBS door-game good times. At first it seemed really open-ended, like, oh, there's nothing on the screen, now I have the candy salesman! Now there's a quest mode! Now I'm farming resources! But all those things start to lock together as an actual grinding mechanic, and while there may be more surprises around the corner, there hasn't been anything really crucial in a while,

100% agree with this. like i said before, though, it provides plenty of entertainment for a free text-based game.

Wait, it has an ending? I'm so used to games like Space Invaders, Asteroids, and the like not having an ending that I didn't bother playing after I started to get bored (I started to work out a strategy for each combination of player ship, enemy and level, and started to get bored).

Don't think I stand a chance getting to the end of romcheck, but I like it a lot for the brief bursts I can manage.

xxp it's amazing how the 'muscle' memory for games works. Even after all this time, I didn't even have to consciously think 'oh this is asteroids so I guess I do this'.

It reminded me of the time I played Galaxian recently, and despite not having played it for ~25 years I was wiping out those swooping invaders like a champ after about 30 seconds.

I wish there was more to it! I liked the little hints at a plot in the cities, like that the character you play is actually the bad guy. Does the ending mean that the main character was actually one of the aliens/"Wanderers", or just that he decided to roam the universe in one of their ships?
