If Sudeikis leaves, I will miss his dancing in the What Up With That sketches and will lament the missed opportunity for future Maine Justice sketches.

Stefon thing where they actually show you some of the crazy stuff he's been describing all these years was so lame and missing the point of the whole bit. kinda bummer that that character became Hader's SNL legacy, he was so much more than that.

He'll always be Herb Welch to me, and 100 other characters. I always find the Stefon bits funny, but I have no idea why people get obsessed with them.

When it started it seemed like such a New York joke. LIke for people who remember reading Details before it was a "men's" magazine. I thought it was hilarious but didn't think anybody would get the joke.

So is Sudekis out or what?

Overall this episode was solid, surprisingly so.

Last 10 minutes: crazy emotional, more than expected

Vh1 was marathoning Ben Affleck's other hosting turns, and I'd totally forgotten that Seth Meyers was SNL's John Kerry. And he wasn't too bad at it, either. Also, he was the host the weekend before the 2008 election when Tina Fey came back to do Palin with John McCain for the QVC sketch.

All of the ones I watched this afternoon were better than the one from last night.

been pretty blase about the last few of this season. I'll miss Hader but honestly kind of psyched for a season where Thompson is top dog so I kinda hope sudeikis splits too

if thompson stays and sudeikis splits, then they've got one guy who's been there a decade and the second longest running is Bobby Moynihan!

The stefon send-off skit was funny because it's been so long since seeing Seth Meyers "act".

meyers on bs report said moynihan was his prediction for breakout season before this season started (i'll leave it to you guys if that happened or not). i'm guessing (hoping tbh) next season will be the killiam and mckinnon show. i'm guessing lorne will bring in a bunch of new ppl also, all the strong impressionists at second city, uccb, etc have to be drooling right now w/ hader gone. trying to remember the last bit snl beat into the ground as much as stefon that i was nevertheless not remotely tired of, i think i'd have to go back to wayne's world or something (there were alot of will farrell bits i never got tired of, bill brassky etc, but they only did those three or four times which does not come close to counting as beating into the ground on snl). curious who's gonna get that update chair, i'd predict cecily strong except her breakout character is an update character.

i think mulaney is really funny - his standup from last year (?) was excellent

i keep forgetting that after all the hype the mulaney pilot actually didn't get picked up (which w/ nbc's current state of mind re: sitcoms probably means it really was as good as it was reputed to be). yeah i'd figure that's his seat if he wants it.

i said this earlier in this thread but a sensible conspiracy theory is that lorne had the pilot dropped so he could keep mulaney for seth's job

he was funny/charming on jeselnik's panel this season too

bobby moynihan is fantastic. i hope he sticks around at least a few more seasons.

totally ok with more moynihan, drunk uncle is a great oft-repeated sketch, the fox and freinds sketch is stupid but hes great on it, lest we forget RIP ASS DAN

Was kind of hoping Moynihan's mic-drop dude would pop up in that funeral sketch.

jan hooks looks like she might be in the running w/ tush, not necessarily the news, snl, and apparently the dana carvey show (though i'm guessing this is one or two appearances tops as probably hillary) and primetime glick which i've blocked all memories of but seems to have been a sketch show of sorts also (you do commercial parodies = you're a sketch show right?).

i could see portlandia running long enough (esp if he's focusing on it or whatever now) for armisen to get it as well.

gotta say that "kitty cat" space sketch has staying power

The way people cheered Moynihan just showing up in the cop family wedding toast sketch makes me think he's only on the rise

At this point he (and Melissa and like two of the other actresses) is all I root for (given that Hader's out and Sudekis is going stale kinda)

Sudeikis can still be crazy funny, but he seems bored as hell to still be on SNL.

Bobby, Kate and Kenan are my favorites of the remaining cast (Sudeikis too, if he counts). Nasim and Vanessa used to kill it too, but they definitely took steps backwards in 2012/13. Taran Killam is often funny, but he always feels like a visitor for some reason.

I think they weren't given enough to do. The majority of sketches Vanessa was this season were the Californians, after all.

I thought Nasim was great early on, but she's gotten so little screentime lately i can't even remember the last time she stood out in anything.

I hope the maudlin farewell doesn't become a regular SNL feature, it's kind of gross. And I'm pretty sick of Armisen in the context of SNL as it is, so just leave so I can forget about you before Portlandia comes back.

I kind of felt like Kristen Wiig deserved a sendoff, but Armisen got his own because nobody had any better sketch ideas.
