Dave Grohl's neck/beard area looking distressingly George Lucas-esque there. I'd never noticed Tim Cook's resemblance to paul O'Grady before, either:

which is good because the redesign is nice

You know, if they could get iCloud working right it could be really great. I just:

Started a slide deck in Keynote on my desktop Mac, typed the title of the first slide, then left it open (hadn't titled it or saved it or anything)
Started another new deck in Keynote on my MacBook, typed the title of the first slide (the same one as on the desktop Mac). Saved my changes to iCloud, gave it a name etc.
Did a lot more work on the deck.
Came back to desktop Mac, saw that the virtually empty deck I'd started had been renamed to match the one from the MacBook, and all the content was already there.

It was a bit like magic.

appaz there's the icloud that manages stuff like this, and a completely different icloud that's a load of public apis that basically don't work

the Quim of Bendigo (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 21:45 (ten years ago) link

oh wait, i think the first icloud is just music/app distribution nm

the Quim of Bendigo (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 4 June 2013 21:49 (ten years ago) link

Include the versioning control over iCloud docs that OS X already has and I'm with Stet on this. I'd even settle for this over fixing the CoreData iCloud issues.

WWDC sessions times are up. Way more TBCs than the last couple of years, especially in Presido. Bodes well for keynote, I think.

Bugger all for Xcode too. Fingers crossed.

our supplier is 100% convinced new Pro hardware is coming next week.

my bingo card: modular mini thunderbolt cube thing

Britain's Obtusest Shepherd (Alan), Wednesday, 5 June 2013 20:45 (ten years ago) link

just read that somewhere. That it's totally thunderbolt based.

dan selzer, Wednesday, 5 June 2013 21:21 (ten years ago) link

yeah totally they just took a bunch of thuidnerbolt cables and rolled them into a ball and somehow imbued them with computing power

markers, Wednesday, 5 June 2013 21:40 (ten years ago) link

if it's ready it's gonna be announced next week because why wouldn't you announce a machine that all your developers would want at a developers' conference. though maybe they won't want it if it's a crazy thing

markers, Wednesday, 5 June 2013 21:41 (ten years ago) link

it'll be interesting to see if they shitcan the current mac pro

markers, Wednesday, 5 June 2013 21:42 (ten years ago) link

Allen (etaeoe), Wednesday, 5 June 2013 21:45 (ten years ago) link

The new Mac Pro model, expected later this year, is "something really different" according to a video professional who says he spoke with the Mac Pro product manager.

Allen (etaeoe), Wednesday, 5 June 2013 21:47 (ten years ago) link

zip drive

markers, Wednesday, 5 June 2013 21:52 (ten years ago) link

i actually had to plug in a zip drive two days ago. the only way i could do it was to replace the ATA optical drive on an old 1st gen Pro. I really should chuck out the SCSI zip drives i have on the shelf :-/

Britain's Obtusest Shepherd (Alan), Wednesday, 5 June 2013 22:03 (ten years ago) link

Ho! Could I maybe borrow one for a bit first? Have lots of stuff on an old LC and no way to get it off.

stet, Wednesday, 5 June 2013 22:22 (ten years ago) link

woah hold up, there are some crazy jerks who might have use for information even if markers is like 'lol'??

Green_Partyhat for iFunny :) (Matt P), Wednesday, 5 June 2013 22:37 (ten years ago) link
